  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Republicans in the House had been pushing for border security measures -- particularly the House GOP’s signature border security and asylum reform legislation — to be included in any stopgap funding bill. A vote on a bill that included most of the "Secure the Border Act" failed on Friday after 21 hardline Republicans joined Democrats in voting against it.

As I've said, Joe won't budge on the border (and thus a government shutdown) until enough Democrats stand up.

No problem! Just send them to the sanctuary cities! Easy peasy!

Something that should be and could be done is .... interviews with many of the migrants of how they maneuvered getting to the US border. Yes, we do know the cartels are involved .... but it is obvious there is being other great aid being given to these people (transportation) by buses and such ... who are the entities providing this? I saw one short interview where a migrant stated he was given a credit card by the UN ... don't know if that is true ... but the point is the mass migration is being funded by something else other than the cartels ... either that or there are entities working directly with the cartels. This needs to be determined.

You could not be more wrong. Let's look a fentanyl, which is the #1 cause of lethal overdose. Nearly 90% of fentanyl smuggled into the US enters through legal ports of entry. The cartels don't give a flip about what an undocumented immigrant can carry in a backpack. They want to get in truckloads of product. Have you ever been to San Diego? The San Ysidro PoE is a zoo. The Border Patrol can't possibly screen every truck coming through. And on the east coast, drugs come in on private planes landing at small airports, and boats docking at small private harbors. Before you bad-mouth immigrants, you should read the link. You might learn something.
