Microsoft WORD ~ Help PLEASE

Can anyone help me? This thing has a mind of it's own , a couple days ago I was typing on a document in WORD that I had previously made and saved and all of a sudden there is all this formatting on it.

It is showing .inbetween.each.word.like.this.making.it.very.hard.to.read.

Also this backwards "P" I tried to find what I may have done and undo it, but can't. And now it just isn't in that one doc but ALL OF THEM! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Oh, in case I didn't make myself clear, it is putting ( . ) periods or dots , centered in between each and every word.

oh that has SO happened to me before!!!!!!! I dunno what it is or how to overcome it, but I have a feeling it has something to do with virus-ware cos it happened after I dloaded some stuff from the school computer unto my floppy, then back to my comp. School comps are seriously congested with people up to mischief +.+ i would suggest you get some help from more comp savvy people

No, just on my Word doc.s on my PC. I do not share with anyone my PC and I don't think that I had just downloaded something, I would rather think that I hit something accidently like I have done many times in the past, hit some combination on the keyboard and WHAM! deleted everything I had written and couldn't recover it!

Please, anyone have this happen and fixed it let me know, it's making me crazy!

Well, the backwards P thing (and maybe the .between.every.single.word.you.write thing too) is a result of having some paragraph formatting on.

Try going into Tools, then Options, then the View tab.

There's a section in the middle of the "View" tab on Formatting Marks. You want everything UNCHECKED. That should get rid of those backwards P's (the symbol for a new paragraph) and probably your space indications and any other weird things.

My WORD has this bad habit of deciding, ( without me doing anything) to start using replacement typing or whatever it's called. This is driving me crazy to. How can I un-do this ( which I don't know how it's doing it because I never told it to)!

Replacement typing...like if I wrote "buy book" and wanted to insert the word "my" between "buy" and "book". It would look like this..."buy myook" as typing "my" would replace the space and "b" of "book". Is that what you mean?

If so...just press the insert key on your keyboard. That should take care of it. I hit the insert by accident a lot when I either try to hit the Home key or backspace. LOL

I'm not Aaron but I can answer your question. go to Tools, Auto Correct, and fiddle with the settings there.

Are you talking about when you type something like the word "hte" it changes it to the word "the." If so then go to tools -- AutoCorrect... There are many settings there wich you can mess with. If this doesn't help or you have more questions let me know. Also, feel free to PM me if you like.

I got a question for ya aaron.  I am writing a short story in ms word and I want to copy and past it here in the forums for feedback and to share it.  But when I copy and paste it, it leaves all the tags from word on and it looks awefull.  Pretty much unreadable.  Suggestions?

I'm not Aaron, but...
is it mainly the quotation marks and ellipses ("...") that are messing things up? go to Tools, AutoCorrect, and fiddle with the settings there. such as, on the Auto Format tab (and also Auto Format As You Type tab), uncheck the boxes for replacing straight quotes with curly quotes. also the fractions, symbol characters, and ordinals with superscript; those are the ones that usually give me problems when copying and pasting into messageboards. hope this helps!
