Yeah, but they ask for it when u pay to download games.MS doesn't ask for your SSN when you create an XBL account.
Doing so would basically exclude every other nation from playing on the service.

Um...no they don't.Yeah, but they ask for it when u pay to download games.
Ok... so you posted in a gaming forum to tell people you don't game and are switching to Linux... Why?
*headdesk*
okay. I could've SWORN they did...but whatever.Um...no they don't.
Never had them ask for my SSN. Ever. That means during the sign-up, when registering a gold account, when buying games, add-ons, gamerpics, themes, adding netflix, using facebook, twitter, last.fm, zune marketplace, any of it.
Not a single time has Xbox Live asked for a SSN from me. Doesn't matter whether I've bought Microsoft points through my credit card or used a prepaid. Same with using either a XBL Gold card or buying Gold with my credit card, and I've done both for both.
Only thing they have ever asked me for is my phone number and my credit card number.
I think it will lead to better things in the future, but it will most likely suck to start. I still can't figure out how you'd use it for anything except family games yet.
I could see that turning sour right away.I have heard rumors that Rare is developing Killer Instinct 3 for Kinect.
Not what I wanted to hear btw.
I think the only thing I would be stoked about is the manipulations of the dashboard and media without a controller or a remote, and the price is hardly worth getting it for that, and on top of that, I can't use it in my bedroom (since I have a splitter running between my living room and bedroom) unless I unhook the camera, take a USB hub into my bedroom, and hook it up in there.
Did you know that Microsoft can detect if you modify your X-Box 360, and will ban you once they do? That's kinda scrary isn't it?
Think about it: to play online, you have to input your credit card information, social security number and an adress. That means Microsoft knows where you live, knows your bank account number, and knows your social security number; not just yours, but MILLIONS of people. Isn't that scary?
Not just that either. If you watch netflix through your X-box (which they encourage you to do) or post on Facebook through your X-Box (again, something they encourage you to do), that means they can know what movies you watch, how often you watch movies, what you post on facebook, and possibly what your password on FB is, along with what you post. If they can detect a slight modification on an X-Box, I'm sure they watch what you post on FB, and everything else I mentioned.
And not just that!
Have any of you seen the new 360's that are coming out? Here:
Kinect: How the new Xbox 360 motion sensor could change our everyday lives - mirror.co.uk
This thing can detect motions made with every part of your body, from facial movements, to leg movements, to eye movements and vocal movements. That means that X-Box will also know what you look like, sound like, and how you move, in addition to everything else, especially if this information is being transfered through the internet for online play.
Is it me, or ISN'T THAT SCARY???
