  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is very disturbing.

Microplastics found deep in lungs of living people for first time

Microplastic pollution has been discovered lodged deep in the lungs of living people for the first time. The particles were found in almost all the samples analysed.

The scientists said microplastic pollution was now ubiquitous across the planet, making human exposure unavoidable and meaning “there is an increasing concern regarding the hazards” to health.

Samples were taken from tissue removed from 13 patients undergoing surgery and microplastics were found in 11 cases. The most common particles were polypropylene, used in plastic packaging and pipes, and PET, used in bottles. Two previous studies had found microplastics at similarly high rates in lung tissue taken during autopsies.

People were already known to breathe in the tiny particles, as well as consuming them via food and water. Workers exposed to high levels of microplastics are also known to have developed disease.

Microplastics were detected in human blood for the first time in March, showing the particles can travel around the body and may lodge in organs. The impact on health is as yet unknown. But researchers are concerned as microplastics cause damage to human cells in the laboratory and air pollution particles are already known to enter the body and cause millions of early deaths a year.

This has been a problem for a lot longer than most people realise. Mankind has been manufacturing potentially damgerous plastic materials for a very long time. Baby wipes is just one example they are commonly flushed into the sewers, but will never bio degrade, not ever! Then there are microscopic little pieces of abrasive particules in cosmetic facial scrubs, which are already produces as microplasics from day one.

I am an ex-design engineer and was instructed to use certain plastic materials and components as part of things I was required to design. In case you were wondering, I have never liked using plastics, but for reasons which most would not expect. Plastic materials and components have de-skilled many manufacturing industries, which has enabled employers to use less skilled employees and pay them much less while also desroying livelyhoods and oppotunities for full employment.

No longer are older skilled and knowledgible people in demand for employment as they get older and I am just one such case my self. When I started in engineering, I told that I should always find it easy to stay fully employed for life. I kept my skills and knowledge up to date, employers were no longer looking for the wealth of knowledge and experience from older employees and were much more interested in young employees, who were less aware that good standards were no longer being maintained.

It's all about short terrn gain and consequences which no longer matter. In more recent times we no longer burn these plastics, or are much concerned about environmentally sensible ways of disposing of waste plastics as this is now somebody elses problem. Well now it's everyone's problem and it starting to kill lots of otherwise healthy people and we don't have a answer to the problem. It's interesting that this is a problem, which is coming to fruition at the same time as so many other problems are coming to the fore.

Do you think that God knew this was coming all the time, while mankind was ignoing those who were warning us all about this. I think so! Are these the last days? A lot of us think so!

What Li and other researchers don’t yet know is whether this is dangerous. Everyone eats and inhales sand and dust, and it’s not clear if an extra diet of plastic specks will harm us. “Most of what you ingest is going to pass straight through your gut and out the other end,” says Tamara Galloway, an ecotoxicologist at the University of Exeter, UK. “I think it is fair to say the potential risk might be high,” says Li, choosing his words carefully.

Microplastics are everywhere — but are they harmful?
