Hailing from the sleepy town of Geddes, on the northern continent of Terra, Micky Gelder, 22, was something of a social misfit. He didn’t fit with the norms expected of guys his age, being far too interested in the stars and ‘whether anything was out there’ to pay much attention to the local sports teams or farming matters. He didn’t even really fit in with the local geeks and nerds- he found them too obsessive and just couldn’t stomach their much-loved computer games.
People generally didn’t bother him, dismissing him as a daydreamer, but whenever anyone had an electrical or mechanical malfunction, Micky was their man.
As long as they didn’t mind waiting a while.
It wasn’t that Micky was slow, as such, or even lazy. He just operated on a different level to those around him. He didn’t like to rush things, preferring instead to spend time taking devices to pieces and figuring out what made them tick. His almost photographic memory enabled him to put them back in working order, though not necessarily working the same way as before.
He can be charming when he wants to be, and very blunt at other times. There’s only really one girl in town that he thinks is worth the effort, but she’s getting ready to leave for the big city to start university. Micky’s never quite gotten round to applying to go to uni, though there’s little doubt he could apply himself if he wanted to. He currently lives in an old caravan in a disused barn on his parents’ land, which he uses as a workshop.
Physically, Micky is around 5’10” with messy brown hair in need of a trim. He’s in reasonable shape for a non-athlete, and his grey eyes generally seem to be staring into space. ‘The lights are on, but no-one’s home,’ as some of the less kind members of the community have commented.
