I love this guy because he is not a atheist, and he is a scientific genius. There is room for god in his view of the universe. I love his videos, also he is a big brain but most of what he says is not beyond my scope of understanding.

Kaku is to theism what Biden is to professional cycling - he may be technically on a bicycle but he isn’t exactly favored to win the Tour de France. After his earlier comment of “I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence. To me, it is clear that we exist in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance” he walked it back with “That’s one of the drawbacks of being in a public sphere: Sometimes you get quoted incorrectly. My own point of view is that you can neither prove nor disprove the existence of God”.

A brilliant mind? Sure. Anything more than a poetic-leaning agnostic? Probably not.

Funny you posted this--I just watched one of the best sci fi movies ever made the other day, the original "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (1951) and Klaatu's message to Earth stands to this day as something similar to what Kaku is saying in this video. Which message essentially is; "If you don't start nothin', won't be nothin'." More on point? He was acknowledging that we humans are still essentially crazy, overly emotional primitive sorts for the most part, armed with dangerous toys that we have no compunction about using on each other.

As to what Kaku is saying, here? I'm not so sure that his vision of a Star Trek type of society is in line with reality, because we humans still have a lot to learn in terms of "tolerance" and what have you. We still need to learn to curb our emotions and our primitive instinct to lash out and kill that which angers us. I think it will take much longer than 100 years or so for us to make any real headway with that aspect of being human.

If there are aliens out there who are more advanced than we are? I think they're actively avoiding us, because they may be thinking "These people are not ready to meet higher life forms; they're too violent and impulsive and out of control," for all I know. That or if we're fool enough to start with them, who knows what they will unleash upon us in retribution for daring to lash out at them. So while I find what he's saying to be interesting, I think it's like communism; it only works on paper, ultimately. In reality? Not so much.
