Have you ever noticed that the stern warning given to the children of Israel to listen to the angel of the Lord in Exodus 23:20-22 and the stern warning given to the children of Israel to listen to the future prophet like Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 sound the same? That is because they are one and the same.
Exodus 23:20-22 (NKJV) - "20 Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. 21 Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him. 22 But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries."
But Israel sinned and now they must be purified.The angel will return "...in the day when I visit for punishment..." that is "the time of the end".
Exodus 32:30-35 (NKJV) - "30 Now it came to pass on the next day that Moses said to the people, You have committed a great sin. So now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin. 31 Then Moses returned to the LORD and said, Oh, these people have committed a great sin, and have made for themselves a god of gold! 32 Yet now, if You will forgive their sinbut if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written. 33 And the LORD said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book. 34 Now therefore, go, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, My Angel shall go before you. Nevertheless, in the day when I visit for punishment, I will visit punishment upon them for their sin. 35 So the LORD plagued the people because of what they did with the calf which Aaron made."
Deuteronomy 18:15-19 (NKJV) - "15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, 16 according to all you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die. 17 And the LORD said to me: What they have spoken is good. 18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him."
Daniel 12:1-4 (NKJV) - "At that time Michael shall stand up,
The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people;
And there shall be a time of trouble,
Such as never was since there was a nation,
Even to that time.
And at that time your people shall be delivered,
Every one who is found written in the book.
2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
Some to everlasting life,
Some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.
4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.
The name Michael is Hebrew meaning "Who is like God?"
Revelation 22:8-11 (NKJV) - "8 Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. 9 Then he said to me, See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God. 10 And he said to me, Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. 11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.
Did you catch that? The angel said "...I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets...". What did Moses say to the children of Israel of the future prophet like Moses? That he would be "...a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren..." What did God say to Moses of the future prophet like Moses? That He "...will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren..." .
THE ANGEL IS THE PROPHET...THE PROPHET IS THE ANGEL! This is not the first time that angels appeared to mankind as men in flesh and body. Read Genesis 18-19 of the Lord and His two angels who appeared to Abraham as "three men".
Revelation 22:16-19 (NKJV) - "16 I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star. 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let him who hears say, Come! And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. 18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
Revelation 10:1-7 (NKJV) - "I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire. 2 He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3 and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4 Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them. 5 The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven 6 and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer, 7 but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.
So the Lord sends His angel to testify when "...the time is at hand." when "..there should be delay no longer..." This angel is Michael the seventh and mighty angel who holds the book when the mystery of God will be finished. His earthly name will not be Michael. His name will be ______!
