Methodist Symbol looks similar to cross burning? Whats it stand for?

Has anyone noticed that the methodist cross looks like its on fire. Like a cross burning? Im sure the methodists do not support the KKK or anything, but you have to admit that the cross symbol that the meths use looks like a flaming cross. Could someone tell me what the flaming symbol means, or direct me to a site that has the answer Im looking for.

I always thought it was a sail.

I guess it does kinda look like a sail. The flames have multiple purpose. Its neat to know.

The Methodist symbol looks a lot like the Church of God symbol. The Church of God symbol has a large flame coming out of and descending down from the cross, symbolic I suppose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit coming to us and being available to us by the sacrifice that Jesus gave for us. They might be similar on account of the Church of God largely coming out of the Methodists, or perhaps coincidentially.
