CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm a casual Metallica fan. I won't get worked up enough to smash them for Napster or being maintsream, or to tell you that they are the best band ever, or any junk like that. All I have to say is that they made some really awesome songs, my favorites being Sad But True, Until It Sleeps, and Whiskey in the Jar(which is my favorite Cover as well). I can listen to pretty much anything of theirs and enjoy it, even if only a little, which you cannot say about many other bands. They are not by any means my favorite, but they are ONE of my favorite American bands. Otherwise, gimme some foreign metal!

All right Taake, fair enough I haven't listened to much Slipknot, only a couple of songs and they sounded a whole lot like thrash to me! Maybe I'm generalising...
I never claimed to be a metal expert either...nor did I make some huge statements about metal either...

Whiskey in the Jar is a cover song. I am sure you knew that, but just in case somebody didn't know that. It's and old Irish drinking song. Me thinks the Dubliners did it, but I could be wrong. Thin Lizzy also covered it.blackwasp said:
