I stopped going to church years ago, that's why I am always searching inter web congregations.

Even when I find a Messianic place around Houston, I still have problems.

But then I'm pretty weird with religion in general.

Whenever looking at a church to fellowship with, or a website to glean information from, or any group where I'm sitting under their instruction, I always check their Statement of Faith first. If they don't have one, in writing, and are not readily willing to show it to you, then RUN AWAY! Any reputable church should have one in their lobby.

Read it carefully, and see if you agree with the major doctrinal issues. If not, then politely leave. If so, visit a while and see how you fit in there. See how the preaching is. See if you like the worship service. Then decide for yourself.

Lulav offered to help via PMs. Me too. If you can give me the name and/or location (city state) of the synagogue, I'll be glad to do some PI work for you. (I'm in hosp right now and would definitely give me something useful to do!!!)
But I wouldn't worry about Jews for Jesus being in Messianic Synagogues, they do their work mostly on the streets, places like Boys and Girls Clubs, the Malls, especially in areas where young people hang out there in the malls, theaters, roller skating arenas, schools and school sports functions, (just some of the places they can be found around here near the Metro Cleveland OH area, etc. as well as in churches.

Oh I don't think she is alleging any such thing, just miswording possibly.

Rather, J4J ends up having a Christian-like ecclesiology or congregational halacha, to pick a term as it were, which opposes Sabbath(Saturday) observance among many things Torah which J4J does not advocate observance of.

Though I must admit that I've talked to numerous Sunday Christians (Torah nailed to the cross folks) who have me fully convinced that the God the see and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are two entirely different personalities, and their Jesus Christ is nothing like Hashem's promised Yeshua Moshiach. (Disclaimer: Note above that I stated "numerous", numerous does not equal all.)

And which of the congregations are you looking into. Just because they're flying under the banner of MANNA doesn't mean that each congregation believes exactly like the SoP of MANNA. I haven't read this yet, it could be a great SoP, SoF, I'll return and read but wanted to know which congregations to look at.

No it was all Livingstone NJ or wherever that place was. Eyesight went kahootz on me and I went to wrong location. Looks like a great place for those in NJ!! Not so much for you babybug. I'll keep looking.

There is a Messianic synagogue near me, but I need to know if there is a "litmus test" for determining whether this place is a "Jews for Jesus" in disguise? This is very important to me...I'm ignorant in this, help...LOL.

Why is it so bad to have Jews for Jesus around? I don't see them as a threat now a days
