Ok, I see where you're coming from now. I was only looking in the Torah, not the prophets. Thanks! :)

The time of Nehamiah can be very instructive, since at the time the people had been so long away from Torah that they were having to learn it all over again. Much like it is today - people have long been seperated from Torah.

Okay can I ask for a opinion on Debate and politics?
I really feel that diiscussing the scriptures at hand is good to do on the Sabbath but some people get over heated...Maybe it is not good for everyone?

The other thing was maybe a pet peeve, but I don't like politicing on the sabbath. Is there a verse that would support this? Pacifism vs/ Nationalism vs/ militantism type debates? Or maybe it is the fact that people try pushing this stuff without actual hard scriptures on the sabbath is what is bugging me.

Isaiah 58:13-14

[font=Arial, Geneva, Helvetica]13 "If you hold back your foot on Shabbat from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if you call Shabbat a delight, ADONAI's holy day, worth honoring; then honor it by not doing your usual things or pursuing your interests or speaking about them. 14 If you do, you will find delight in ADONAI - I will make you ride on the heights of the land and feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Ya'akov, for the mouth of ADONAI has spoken."

I thinkpolitics would fall under the above - doing your usual things, pursuing your own interests and speaking about them. From the above scripture I gather that we whould not speak of anything that doesn't pertain to Adonai on the Shabbat.

Sometimes keeping of Shabbat can be a hard thing to start doing. We live in a world that goes completely against the concept of simply not working one day a week. And it always has. G-ds people have been viewed at best as odd and at worst as lazy for it.

A place to start then

Do not work at your regular job on Shabbat - Do not take jobs that force you to do so - have faith that G-d will provide for you.

Do not make other people work on Shabbat. This means don't buy or sell anything save for the preservation of life. Go and do your marketing before the Shabbat get what you need before.
Here is a question for our friends from the western churches that read this forum. How is it we can scream about the 10 commandments being taken down when we cannot wait to get out of church so that we can get to McDonalds? Are these commandments just for beleivers?

Shut off your computer - Sorry but it astounds me to see that one of the most active days in the MJf is Saturday. Making little letters go out into cyberspace is creation. Shut the computer off I promise everything will be there when you get back.

Worship! Enough said remember that 7 days without entering the L-rds house will make one week(weak)

Spend some time with those other tennants in the home you rent or pay mortgage on. Those people are called your family! Oddly enough they are pretty interesting folk take some time to get to know them.

Take a nap - You know Pastor works himself to death every day of the week except Shabbat then he takes a nap. It might not be the law but its about the most non work thing I can think to do.

So there is a place to start. Who knows maybe you are not Messianic maybe time to think about what to keep the sabbath means? I hope you do

Well actually, I do try to stay off on Sabbath unless home sick and have no fellowship elsewhere. My goal is to be off friday around noon till sundown Saturday.

I do a lot on line so this keeps me from buying and selling on line.
