I loved it to and should hsve posted as such....:scratch:I thought I did in fact, maybe it was a Rep note

I was gonna ask if you have put those feelings/steps into a dance for the congregation yet....I get sooo many dances that way and it may look like something that is only in our heart at first, but many times THOSE dances are a gift for the Body and are far reaching as well....give it a try if you feel called, I will pray that the vision spreads from your heart to your feet and into the feet and hearts of many, many dancers/worshippers you meet...:pray::pray:

I actually Choreographed a dance for the first Messianic Wormens Worship Conference that met a few weeks ago and it was beautiful and came out exactly as I saw it in my heart...I only saw movement and feeling, and a story in my heart; when the dance was finished, the steps ( and it was a group effort) were perfect for the vision I saw....

I saw a shy girl, (the one representing many shy dancers) and Abba was trying to get her to dance with Him....first he just held her hand, and swayed back and forth and she swayed too... then he gave her a little pull along tug, and she joined him, but she was still very shy, ...then he held her hands up high in his and they swayed back and forth and slowly started to turn.....towards the middle of the song they took off and she wasnt following any more, she was leading(worshiping!), and soon Abba dropped out and stood smiling in the middle of her circle dance, admiring his beautiful girl...toward the end she grabs his hand again, and they slowly dance, her in his arms, till the song is over....

MJ I know I'm quoting you our of context, but just to ask a question...would you still completely agree with this statement standing alone? I'm just curious, I was thinking about your friend and praying for her too....I bet she could have a nice career in dance that would glorify ABBA even in front of an audience(maybe not cruise ship, am not sure what you mean by that but I'm guessing half naked girls in big hats, but that is not the only Job for a dancer)

Well as I see it yes, it could stand alone. But I'm grappling with the subject as well.

Ohh yes...I agree, she could do a good job with Godly dancing, she is obviously talented.

See, I've never really been encouraged to dance. I'm the footy bloke! My whole aim in life was to beat up the next biggest bloke so I could be better than him :D (That is an exageration...but it makes the point.) And so I always saw dancing as a girly thing...you know...kinda weak. But now...if I was to be married in a couple of months (yeh right!) I wouldn't even know how to dance with my spouse!! Can't even waltz! But...I'd love to be able to dance with her...its like...part of the whole wedding thingy. But I'm too tuff fot that eh! :sorry: And I'm begining to also see Worship dance in the same light. Thanks to the likes of Mergalot's poem, the story of David dancing before the ark, Miriam and the wimon etc, I'm begining to see dance as a definate part of worship, that should be encourged, not discouraged.

So...as you can see...I'm at the cross roads. I bellieve that dance that glorifies HaShem 100% is good and right. But the exact boundries to that, I'm still figureing out.

So...once again, I come for some advice, pointers, and maybe a couple of lessons Tish??;) In Gods good time I am sure. Just wish I had a personal jet, could get round to seeing a few of you folks.LOL (Yeh right!) :D

thanks again,

Matt James

Thank You, Tishri. I've been there, so I know exactly what you mean. It has been a little while since it's happened, though, so your prayers would definitely be appreciated in that area!

I love it when one person's vision catches fire and becomes a group one, especially as it pertains to dance! It's the L-rd touching each one in the group, giving the whole a unity and clarity only He can give. Your vision is beautiful in its simplicity, yet very powerful![/quote]

Thanks, Tishri,

The song has been choreographed twice.
The first time, I oversaw two of our Bat Mitzvah girls, part of our dance ministry, who choreographed this song in medley with "I will Search for You". It was beautiful. (As part of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah, each person is asked to do a special presentation. One girl, an artist, did a special rendering of a favorite scripture, while a boy, studying music, did a musical solo.)
I later adapted parts of their work for use by the dance ministry, separating out the two songs.

I'm looking forward to trying your choreography and sharing it with the others.

Thanks,

Margolit

BTW, Does anyone have any choreography for the Paul Wilbur song ("Come Dance With Me")?

MJ, I'm glad the L-rd has used my poem to touch you. :)

You'd be surprised at just how many "tough, macho" men worship Him in the dance. In fact, one book on Messianic dance I have, written by a man called "the dancing Rabbi", talks about "men only" dances, such as the Torah processional, and choreographing using "gender specific" movements for men. If you ever attend a Messianic conference, and attend dance workshops, you'll see men there, learning AND teaching. It's also true of many dance teaching videos. One man I know attended a "for men only" dance workshop at a conference, and brought back a dance we've adapted to several other songs.

So I just want to encourage you to let the L-rd lead you in this, to let Him help you as far as the giodelines are concerned. You're not alone in this area. I feel strongly that you'll find He will be smiling on you. I'll keep this in prayer for you. :prayer:

And remember, if it was good enough for King David....
