  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Amen to the cleaning up! We survived also. Actually it went pretty well. We successfully released balloons yesterday afternoon, Santa arrived ok, and the kids seemed to do very well. I even did better than I thought. Merry Christmas to you all. Now its off to 2007!

I just got home from my parents-in-law and it went well. The weekend before Terry died we went to the shore and he had bought his parents gifts for Christmas. So, it was a little tough for everyone when I gave his parents his gifts.

Just waiting for my kids to come back home tomorrow and then Wednesday is our family Christmas.

2007 has to be better!

Are you completely sick of opening up toys by now? lol I think I get carpal tunnel every year just from trying to break the secret codes to getting the toys out of their boxes.

Well, nuts, just a little bit ago I had a big ole piece of one of my teeth break off!!! On a Hershey's Kiss! I was going to call the dentist in the morning anyway, because I have been having pain in that tooth, but now it is really important.... :swoon:

Other than that, it has been as good a Christmas as I could expect. Not bad at all. Helped Dad with some things, had dinner with Mom & Dad, and got to watch the Eagles pound the Cowboys. :D

God bless you all!

Oh yeah, and to top it off the kids all got gift cards to spend so we were up at the crack of dawn this morning and off to SHOP EVEN MORE!!! I think I'll have to call in the National Guard to clean this house, lol. But the kids really enjoyed it and that's what counts. I'm not a shopper but if I can make the kids happy I'm all for it, especially this year.

lol Please tell them to come over to my house when they are done. I've never seen so much wrapping paper and boxes in my life. The cats are having a blast, of course.

JeanR- We will certainly keep your daughter in prayer. I'm glad all made it safe.

Faith- You know if you could train the cats to clean up the wrapping paper you would have it made, lol.

lol I can't even seem to train the children to do that job well. I have hauled out so many trash bags, I think I've lost 20 lbs. We can almost see the floor now! One year, I asked all of the relatives to please take all the toys out of their boxes, ties, etc. before wrapping. This worked great and kept me from having to dismantle package after package for three children by myself. I thought this would be an ongoing event. This year, they didn't even remember. Ugh. We surely appreciate every single thing, but this is exhausting for poor mom. Someone could make some serious money opening a business that specializes in opening up toy packages and putting toys together.

I am past the "toy opening" point in my life but even big boy's toys have that "child proof" packaging. I am especially amused my the ones, that after using everything in the house from a hammer to a meat cleaver, you discover this neat little easy open feature that, for some unknown reason, is not marked by their packaging department....
Hope everyone had as merry a Christmas as was possible, under the circumstances, and that we all just keep praying for a better next year.
God Bless you all,
Missinyou

That sounds like a good holiday job! When I was a teen I used to work at the local Sears Cat. Center (remember when we had those). I used to put together bicycles and other things for people who had ordered them through mail order. I don't think I've even seen a bicycle that wasn't put together in the last 10 years. The toys and the daug gone metal ties drives me crazy. This year I looked around and my 6 year old had a pair of wire cutters trying to get her Care Bear out of the box. Now somethings just not right when that happens. I can't tell you how many things I've torn up trying to get them out of the package.

lol Those Care Bears are sure tied in good. We used pliers and a knife on ours this year. If I have to try to pry out one more Brat Doll from a box, I may lose my mind. And, yet, tomorrow is my daughter's b-day party. More presents to pry open! I nearly lost an eye on a camera yesterday, but I did manage to find the floor in two rooms. Progress.
