We have a top 40 countdown on one of our local radios and its a countdown of the top 40 songs across the country, and they have had Mercy Me and Stacie Orrico on it, I think that is really cool! It was really cool that they got the one Mercy Me song on, it was the one called I Can Only Imagine and then the Stacie Orrico song was I Hate YOu, But I Love You. I think that's what it's called, I don't really listen to her.Has Stacie Orrico gone sort of secular, that song didn't really sound like some old ones I've heard of hers, maybe it was just that song.I don't know.

cool. I think it's great if Christian artists can break into the mainstream with some great songs. I would just hope that they don't compromise while they're doing it. Stick with the message - profits and fame are short-lived (on an eternal scale).

There are others who have done well in the mainstream too... MWS Place in this World did well, POD (but I think they compromised).

I think Ibiagm is tryint to boost their post total. J/K, but I was totally surprised when I heard about Mercy Me on secular radio. I mean it's not that hidden of a message. Just goes to show you the depths of societies yearning for something better. (sings Third Day) "His name is Jeeeesus, precious Jeeeesus, Lord Almight... King of my Heart... King of Glory" (ends signing) Oh well, that was my random praise moment of the night.

I can't stomach Stacie Orrico's music, and I don't think she's singing anything Christian, well, at least on the radio she's not. She just comes across like any other bubble gum pop act with a bit of r&b.

I agree

Mercy Me's song was on the Bruce Almighty soundtrack, wasn't it? I think that's part of the reason it's so popular right now. I was in a sub shop the other day with my wife and we heard "I Can Only Imagine" on the radio and thought "cool, these people are Christians!" Then the song ended and the announcer said the callsign for one of the popular secular rock stations. We were quite confused.

Stacie has a strong head on her shoulders and knows what she is doing.
The more artists making it into the mainstream, the more Jesus gets into the Mainstream! Go Stacie Go!

Pillar went mainstream and they rock!!!! They are also doing mainstream shows with korn and people like that.

^ the thing about that, is often they are the ones that are influenced, not influencing. I mean some have done great, but some others have either not made it really big, or become "secularized". But I think it's awesome when they do make it big, and stick to their faith! I thought it was so cool when i heard mercy me on the radio. That song, I Can Only Imagine, would be hard to interpret as anything but Christian.

Even if the songs Christian singers sing on the secular radio aren't very Christian-oriented, they can still be benificial. As long as the songs don't have questionable/bad lyrics, nonChristians may be attracted to the singer... who knows, after they start looking for more songs by, say, Stacie Orrico, they could be introduced to Christianity. That's my view on it, anyway. =)
