If you haven’t figured out yet I have a bipolar diagnosis and have lived with the crazy ups and downs for 33 years without medication! So here I am at 66 years old and I haven’t figured out what I want to do to do when I grow up! Maybe I could write a book! But no that would be a crazy idea because of my ADD! Maybe I could do some public speaking! Probably not because the thoughts that go through my mind some could not follow! Maybe I could start a lay ministry and help people who have a mental disorder realize they don’t need medication to get better! That would never work because one of my manic symptoms is grandiose thoughts! I couldn’t do that because I have only one and a half years of college education! I didn’t do to well because I wasn’t there for a scholastic education! I never did very well with books! When you have a distractible mind, one of my symptoms, it is very difficult to read unless the reading is interesting! Maybe I could start a blog! There are other crazies out there that would enjoy my blog! Maybe I could have a you tube channel and share what is on my heart! Maybe! Just maybe I could do all of the above!

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Ten years ago I started writing a book! Bipolar – Disorder or Process of Life? From Mania to Reality my 20 year journey! I submitted it to a literary agency for consideration. They have hundreds of books submitted every year! Very few make it through the three-step process to be excepted for publishing! The book made it that far! It was not finished at that time, so I did not proceed with publishing!

We have started the process of revising and name change and are communicating with publishers God willing it will be in print by Christmas next year!

New title at present is “From Crazy to Blessed”. Subtitle “My 33-year Bipolar journey without medication!” Verse on the cover Romans 8:28. I also have a title for another book! “Bipolar Disorder Understanding Your Gift!” I have read a few books that acknowledge giftedness but with out a Christian world view!

I would love to help people with a diagnoses understand their gift and not be defined by what the world calls mental illness! I can identify many in the Bible that would be considered mentally ill! My wife and I have started a ministry seven years ago. It is an alternative to medication for depression and bipolar! There is hope without medication and we have many testimonies to prove it! We are always looking for more. We are available to share our journey! God willing we will be starting a blog here soon!
God Bless

Thanks for your truth ! I enjoy hearing more from you start a blog on here . Would be very helpful to people learn they don't need meds .
I have many stories and will be sharing daily as soon I meet the requirements. One quick story. We do have a ministry we started seven years ago. The church we were attending gave us a five minute who we are. It is an alternative to medication for depression and bipolar! I could add all mental illness! After the service a young man came up to us and told us his wife was bipolar. He introduced us to his wife. She was obviously on medication! met with her for six months. She started weaning her self off medication. In six months she was off all medication. Twelve months later she had a baby!

Welcome friend. Glad you're here. (I'm new too)

So here I am at 66 years old and I haven’t figured out what I want to do to do when I grow up!

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. Enjoy staying young at heart.
You're here. That's a new beginning.

Maybe I could write a book!

...about internet discussion forums and the friends you made here.

...Maybe I could do some public speaking!

I'm listening. :)
Most public speaking coaches recommend speaking about what you know best...what you're most comfortable talking about. Speak from your own lived experience.

Maybe I could start a lay ministry and help people who have a mental disorder realize they don’t need medication to get better!

Sounds like a great idea. Whose idea was that? Yours or God's. *wink*

I couldn’t do that because I have only one and a half years of college education! I didn’t do to well because I wasn’t there for a scholastic education! I never did very well with books!

Google search bible characters who didn't feel they were good enough to do what God was asking them to do. Moses didn't think he was good at public speaking. Jonah was afraid. Gideon felt he wasn't strong enough. Jeremiah thought he was too young. Saul/Paul felt he was unworthy.

Maybe I could start a blog! There are other crazies out there that would enjoy my blog!

Ha ha. That's MISTER crazy thank you! LOL
You say "enjoy" but don't forget this forum also has buttons for many other ways we can value your contributions.

Maybe I could... Maybe! Just maybe I could do all of the above...

Riddle.
5 frogs were all sitting on a log. 3 decided to jump off the log.
How many were left on the log?

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Nothing is impossible. https: // youtu.be /Wm0O_1Xqn5o
God Bless you :)

Hi and welcome.

As someone who deals with bipolar disorder I will say that I wouldn't endorse what you are doing for a number of reasons. The destruction that untreated disorders wreak in people's lives, not just those who have them but those close to them and even some at a distance, recommending not treating them with the best available means is not a sign of good stewardship but is foolishness. The second is the disorder can easily become an idol, with the highs being chased because it feels so good to be in a manic episode. Ultimately, while it is not beyond the power of God to heal someone of mental disorders it is irresponsible to recommend they not get treatment just as it would be irresponsible to recommend against any other medical treatment.
