  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

From memory (I only had to say it out loud, so the the punctuation may not be right...and it may be "with faith" instead of "by faith", but I'm going with "by"):

Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave His life for me.

I think that's a good one to start off with ;) I don't think everyone here is really in need of this, but hey, it's a good way to force us to! :D

Proverbs 3: 5-6 is good too...*digs out Bible since he hasn't memorized that verse yet...*
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not; In all your ways be mindful of Him, and he will make straight your paths."
Proverbs 12:1 (NAB) "He who loves correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid"
You're right, that IS better in NAB!

(John 1:14)

I love the Prologue of John. :)

I find this verse always helps me if I am troubled by sin or sorrow.

"I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting...Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you."

-Acts 26:16

Here's another one of my favourite verses, from Compline. It's from 1 Peter, and reminds me that we always need to be cautious about occasions which could be sinful.

"[Fratres:] Sobrii estote et vigilate, quia adversarius vester diabolus tamquam leo rugiens circuit, quaerens quem devoret. Cui resistite, fortes in fide. [Tu autem, Domine, miserere nobis.]"

"[Brethren:] Be sober and vigilant, because your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, circles, seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist ye, strong in faith. [But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us.]"

If you were to purchase it, what version would you buy?
I actually don't know if it comes in different versions, per se. The one that I have (which looks like the pic on the website) has NIV, KJV, NASB, and something else. They're not Catholic-approved translations, but I have yet to come across any verses that are classically disputed.

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
