  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Even though I'm Buddhist, I think that if you meditate on the different books that you will be able to remember them in small amounts until you remember them all.

The best way to do this is to get them on CD (not songs) and play them while your meditating. If you don't know how to meditate I could write a tutorial just for you or direct you to a Zen Buddhist site that tells our method. Don't worry, you don't have to be a Buddhist to meditate. lol

That works too. lol Of course, it all depends on how you learn the best. Some people need pictures, others need words, to manipulate it, to study it, and some need audio. I usually can learn all of those ways depending on my mood which is strange because most people have one set way. lol

Hi Brother John.

I know another guy called Brother Paul... are you his brother or something? ;)

Just kidding! Hey, why are you trying to memorize the names of the books? I think it would be better to memorize the verses or passages.

That's my opinion.

He didn't actually state that he was only going to learn the names. All he said was "...books of the bible...." In other words, it's probably a misunderstanding. :)
True my Buddhist friend...
I'm trying to memorize the Book of James right now.
All of it.
Big task, but well worth it.
I do meditate on God's word too. That's why I work on memorizing it, makes it easier to think deeply on it and it's themes.
Thanks

Years ago the basketball player turned memory expert Jerry Lucas wrote a book designed to help you memorize the entire new testament. I think it was called "Remember the Word". Included with the book were a set of cards. There was one card for each chapter of the NT. Each card had a series of silly pictures on it, and using the association method of memory recall, diagramed sequentially the contents of the chapter. I actually still have the book... but the cards are long gone.

It is indeed a good idea, it is a form of self hypnosis, which has been known for many thousands of years. The pictures are the "keys" that unlock the hidden information.

It is exactly the same thing with Peter in the bible, he held the "keys" that would unlock the "Seven Seals". Only when the time was right would the information be made FREELY available to all. That time is now, the Seals have been unlocked. The information contained in the Seals is in the Book Of Man.

It is exactly the same thing with Peter in the bible, he held the "keys" that would unlock the "Seven Seals". It is interesting though to note that he only held the Keys. He did not hold the actual information and instruction of the Seals, this was implanted in the minds of other men. Only when the time was right would the information be made FREELY available to all. That time is now, the Seals have been unlocked. The information contained in the Seals is the Book Of Man.

I'm sorry, but what is a form of self hypnosis?
Scripture memorization?
Scripture meditation?
note cards?

thanks

Did it work?

I understand that missions people held prisoner have found great comfort in reciting scripture. I myself have no memory abilities now, except what the Holy Spirit imprints on my mind - thanks be to God!

It's the same as being hypnotised by another person, only you do it yourself. For example a hypnotist can activate information planted in another persons brain by mentioning a "key" word. A stage hypnotist could for example mention a key word to a person previously hypnotised by himself or even someone else, and have that person do all kind of ridiculous things for the ammusment of the audience, but I would guess you would have seen such examples for yourself. Anyway I'm straying away from your question, but the point is, that a "key" of some kind or another is required to access the information, that is information that you know you carry in your brain and just can't remember, or even information you do not know that you have.In the example given by Didascalos the key was the picture, read the information over and over and keep looking at the picture, repetitive motion can often be very helpful to put the brain into a good state for being hypnotised, just look at the Jews as they nod their heads at the wailing wall and whilst reading their bibles. It is possible to look at the picture in years to come and have the information as fresh in your mind as if you were reading from the book.

The point to remember about hypnosis, is that you can only be hypnotised as long as you are willing to be hypnotised.

Remember the Christians when they were thrown to the lions, Ceasar was gob smacked at their lack of fear. there is no need to be fearfull or to feel pain when you know how to use hypnotism, it really is an incedibly usefull thing.

I think it is nice to know that Jesus as a Nazarene and a member of the Brotherhood of Light, would have been well aware of the powers of hypnosis, he would not have suffered whilst being crucified.

PS I made a mistake in what I said about Peter in my earlier post to you, I will rectify it now.

The memory techniques are quite well known and are taught by a number of people, Christian and not. And yes it does work (but I like the Holy Spirit method better also!!!!).
But memorizing scripture passages is still much better than memorizing the TV guide.

From the Last Prophecy of Jesus contained in volume 2 of the Book of man.

"These words have been given to me as I have wandered in the wilderness for many years, so that I may know the wisdom of the Nazarene's, the Brotherhood Of light.

Words that have been spoken one to another for many thousand years, and passed down to me, and to you, and to he who comes after me. And to those who come before me in The Brotherhood, so that I might know my purpose and the purpose of men upon the Earth, and so that I might know the minds of men.

And I shall pass on the prophecy and I shall prophesy unto you so you might hear me, and he who comes after me.

And I, Joshua Ben Mirriam, who is known and will be known, as Jesus Christ the annointed one, sayeth unto Peter and unto John, in the deepness of their sleep that I have brought upon them. "Write these words that I speak into your minds, before the eyes of man where he will not be able to see them, and will be hidden from man lest he shall make abuse of them in his final time of testing. Give to him that comes after me, whose number will be ten, the six keys and six Seals as I have instructed thee"

Only he that comes after me shall possess the Seventh key and the Seventh Seal for he shall be the Seventh Sign and the last to come before men.......

...... And I shall speak the words in a way that will confound the beast who sits among the seven hills and claims he speaks for me. FOR NO MAN SHALL SPEAK FOR ME EXCEPT AT MY COMMAND.

And he will try to destroy my words, and men shall destroy me for fear of their power upon earth and over men.

..........And I Jesus a Nazarene, A Brother Of Light say unto you that my sayings are faithfull and true. And I shall speak them unto Peter and unto John, as only one of them will be suffered to live, as they shall fear for their power and kill him in shame. But it will be their shame, and the one who will live shall write my words in front of the eyes of men where they will not be able to see them."
