  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"That's no moon... It's a spacestation!" - Obi Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: A New Hope.

If you've seen any of the Marx Brothers movies - then you may recall some scenes when Harpo is doing charades with Chico - those crack me up every time!!

Saving Private Ryan... in the beginning part on the beach. It's very disturbing, I know, but it's a very realistic re-enactment of how it really happened and it really shows what the allies went through to save Europe. Very powerful.

... I also love the scene in the Two Towers. You have to watch closely to see this, but Wormtounge and Saruman are talking. Saruman is making that huge explosive thing, and Wormtounge asks how fire can destroy stone (or something like that.) He holds his candel right over the explosive powder, and Saruman has this really funny look on his face for a couple seconds. I love it.

...try and look for that scene if you can. It's the one where Saruman speaks to all the armies from inside his tower. Really awesome!

catch, im 16 and i wanna be a director or producer. i have my own video camera and i make alot of war movies with fire works, guns, fog machines, and i like to dub music over the film to give it an emotional sense. any way i was inspired to make movies after watching saving private ryan. i love the band of brothers mini series, its a very powerful, emotional, and up lifting story. we were soldiers is great also. my favorite movie is band of brothers though.

heres a memorable movie scene. remember gladiator, when the emporer tells him to remove his mask and give his name... My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, loyal servant to the true emporer of rome, marcus Irreilius (i think thats how its spelled) father to a murdered son. husband to a murdered wife, and i will have my vengance in this life or the next.

I could write a novel on the subject....I'd better not get started. Don't tempt a movie maker....LOL!
Nooooo, tell us! We'd like to hear.

1. I like that scene when Forest Gump runs and his legs gets free, that's beautiful, Freedom moment.

2. When those men sit atop of the building drinking beer at Shawshank Redemption. Maybe even cooler than the end.

3. Oh, Ripley's moment at the end. Without spoiling anything, found it very descriptive and a crystal clear warning.

4. Get Shorty, when John Travolta hits that bodyguard, but then only bends down and comfort him and talk. I've never seen such a compassinate hitman before. Talk about turning things that should be harsh working the opposite direction. Sort of like a positive look on life.

5. The end of Ringu . Japaneese version, I saw it before the american version, luckily)!

6. oh several great scenes with Robin Williams. Patch adams, when he says that because there's so much indifference in the world, God maybe should have spent the 7th day on compassion, not rest. Good Will Hunting, when he approach Matt Damon and says it's not his fault, whereas Matt starts to cry. It makes it even more beautiful that Matt and Ben wrote the manuscript.

7. uncounted scenes with Monthy Python. SUICIDE SQUAAAAAAAAAD!!!

8. Austin Powers: BRING IN THE ROBOOOOOOOOTS!!!! (several more here, basicly just the first film)

9. Shindlers list, when those children hides in the toilet where you even see the german soldiers go to toilet.

The Green Mile was a strange movie, it ended sad, but yet when I left the cinema I felt warm in the good way.

8 Seconds: At the very end when Tuff wins the NFR and then rides the bull for an extra 8 seconds for Lane. Whew...still makes me cry every time!

Tombstone: When someone asks Doc Holliday why he keeps riding with Wyatt Earp even though he's so sick, he replies "Wyatt is my friend". The other person says "Friend?! ...I've got lots of friends", to which Doc pauses then replies softly, a little sadly, but matter-of-factly "I don't".

American Outlaws: The guy gets a "lucky" rabbit foot...."I got it off that dead guy over there". lol

Platoon, when Elias is left behind and is killed by Vietcong, the whole thing in slow motion to Adagio for Strings.

Untouchables - The "Baseball" speech by De Niro's Capone.

Empire Strikes Back - Han Solo being lowered into the carbonite freezing machine. "I Love you" says Leia. "I know" he replies.

"Two Towers" King Theodin's question while holding back the throngs of orcs from the last room in Helmsdeep. "Why are they filled with so much hate?" - reminded me of recent rise in terrorism around the world.

Goodfellas - Following Henry and his date through the nightclub's back doors as he uses his power/prestige, tipping everyone and getting to the front of the stage.

Ghostbusters - When the trio has to clear their minds and not think of anything evil, Ray thinks of the Marshmallow Man ....

Fellowship of the Ring, in Moria where Frodo and Gandalf talk:

Frodo - "I wish the ring had never come to me, I wish none of this had ever happened."
Gandalf - "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time given us. There are other forces at work in this world besides the force of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the ring as you were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought."

The Two Towers, at the end right before Farimar lets Frodo and Sam go:

Frodo - "I can’t do this, Sam."
Sam - "I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened."
Sam - "But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer."
Sam - "Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something."
Frodo - "What are we holding on to, Sam?"
Sam - "That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for."

I won't quote the other 100 or so memorable scenes from the LoTR movies.

In the movie Luther, there's a scence where Luther is making fun of relics, though I don't have the whole scene memorized(yet... only seen the movie once), it's incredibly funny such as this:

Luther - "Why in Rome, there are enough nails from the cross to shoe all the horses in Whitenburg."
