Me as a black man I was hurt because I really enjoy movies and he's a awesome director............But his comments kinda put a damper on his legacy and my enjoyment of his movies.I try not to choose my entertainment based on the personal lives of the artists. If I did, I'd probably not watch any movies at all. I'm not necessarily a big Gibson fan to begin with, but I loved Braveheart and The Patriot and I'll still watch those movies.
I hope it was all made up but you know he did make those anti-Semite comments. I hope his girlfriend/wife(idk) made it all up because boy he has talent and I would have to boycott him completely. There are too many issues surrounding the current issue with Mel. For instance, after the recordings were examined by forensics experts, they came to the conclusion that not only were the recordings made professionally, but that also Mel's wife was using a professional microphone and there were many edits and fades where Mel was talking.
It'll certainly be interesting to hear what he has to say when he finally comes out to address the issue. I'm sure his lawyers are telling him to keep quiet for the moment.
I doubt it was made up, but I'm thinking his wife is a gold digger who is trying to make him look bad to the public so she can clean him out at court when she goes to divorce him. I won't be surprised if she did a lot to get him that angry during their conversations that was edited out.I hope it was all made up but you know he did make those anti-Semite comments. I hope his girlfriend/wife(idk) made it all up because boy he has talent and I would have to boycott him completely.
Mel has imploded.
I hope he can pull himself together and salvage his career.
But like Lohan, I won't see another movie of his until he does.
He has severely burned his bridges while imploding. Going off on a woman is one thing, but attacking a religion and a race is above and beyond.
I'm starting to think Mel doesn't just have anger problems so much as he is completely crazy.
I've seen men get angry before, but not to the point where they have to stop speaking for a few moments just to catch their breath because they are yelling so much.
His personal life is personal and his professional life is profession, and "never the twain shall meet"
In other words I'm not going to boycott his movies because of his personal beliefs/actions. Not to mention his movies aren't just about him but also everyone else that works on them.
I think he's starred in some really great movies and is a great director with 'Brave Heart', 'The Passion', and 'Apocalypso'. But, as is the case with most artists, the man is truly nuts. All of his run ins with the law prove it along with his latest mess with the Russian girl friend. That's a horrible way to treat the mother of your child. I think his acting career is done for. 'Edge of Darkness' was a horrible movie. If he has any future left it's as a director telling very real and unique historical stories.
