Meeting my Uncle's partner for the first time

Hey guys, my family recently found out that my dad's brother is homosexual and has lived that way in secret for the last 15 years or so. Anyway, my uncle and his partner are coming to visit our family (the first time for his partner) so my question is, how would Jesus act towards his partner?

Should I simply be pleasant and stay away from the fact that I don't agree with their lifestyle?

First I think it depends if the person that is afflicted with this sin and he is sorry for it and wants to turn form it and asks for forgiveness.



Then I have no doubt that JESUS would forgive him and tell him to go and sin no more.



But if he was coming out of the closet to show everyone his sin as if it's ok, Then I have no doubt that JESUS would tell him.

" BEGONE FROM ME! "



Remember GODS WORD about the pigs that ran off the cliff when JESUS commanded satin out of the mentally ill person. Read that verse and see why it was that JESUS did that.




To accept actions that you know to go against GODS WORD makes you a part of it.




We are called to use GODS WORD to challenge his ways.



You might just be the one to Save his soul. Or give him a comfortable ride into HELL. You decide!

To do anything other than play nice would be judgemental and wrong. Keep a good ear open for opportunity to share your beliefs if it presents itself but to shun him would be wrong.

You in no way should feel compelled to accept the lifestyle. You can love the people and hate their sin. An honest discussion in private about what is acceptable in your house (if it is your house, not your parent's house) is a good way to deal with the whole issue. After that, as long as the boundaries have been set just go on with life.

My brother-in-law and his boyfriend visited his Mom's house for a holiday once when we were all there. She discussed with them ahead of time that she would not allow homosexual behavior (open affection or sleeping in same room, etc...) in her home. They agreed and slept in separate bedrooms and we all got to spend some time with them. They didn't hold hands or any of that stuff. It was simply all above board and they knew that we all loved them but hated the homosexual activity. As a result we all still have relationship with him. The partner has since been changed but we still have the brother.

The woman at the well in Samaria was caught in sexual sin. Jesus didn't directly address that issue, but addressed her heart and her eternal situation instead.

What your uncle needs more than anything else is Christ. If you feel the need to tell him anything, tell him about Jesus.

That must be a difficult situation for you, and I'm sure others are also struggling with it. You need to remember that this is your uncle's decision and if there are problems caused by it, it's likely that he still won't be changing. Even if you don't agree it's right, you probably don't want to lose your uncle.

You don't have to go out of your way to be supportive, but you don't have to attack them. I suggest you let them know your feelings about it if the opportunity arises, so they know where you stand on the issue, but I would really try to look past that for the time being at least and just enjoy having your uncle there. It will probably make you uncomfortable, though.

I would definitely play it cool. If you are pushy or freak out, you may ruin a future chance to share with him or your uncle. Make them both feel guinuinely welcome and loved for who they are.Accept them both where they are at right now. Lord knows there are enough judgemental christians out there. You never know what God can do in future meetings.

Excellent advice. Shunning these people is not the answer. We also tend to forget that sin is sin. We have all the different sins neatly categorized. In our eyes murder, homosexuality, adultery and the like rate as awful, horrible sins.....whereas stealing, lying, etc., are more acceptable sins. Would we be questioning welcoming a lying uncle into our home? Probably not.

KNOW THIS.

Unless you are to write a new Bible and take creation on your shoulders we need to stand on the SOLID ROCK. That is the WORD of GOD.



Should there be ANY doubt about how to Handel things, GO to the ROCK. GOD does not soft-soap HIS WORD. HE is very clear on how HIS followers are to Handel themselves.



You either accept or reject HIS WORD! GOD has left it up to you.



This question would have never been asked if there was not a question in conflict with GODS WORD.



Do you really think that GOD is going to slip and slide on JUDGEMENT DAY?
