Hi Joebobned. Actually, I'm already associated with the SCA. I was interested in Lord of the Rings for a long time. And in a newsweek magazine it talked about the movies. And in it, it mentioned the SCA. I jumped on the internet and checked it out. I found a local group, and it happened to have a metalworking guild. I called him, and we met (with my parents of course) at a tournament. Ever since he's been teaching me how to make it. I'm interested in making stuff for other people. But I think I should better finish a whole harness for myself first. Just because it's my hobby, and I wanna have fun with it. But if someone u know is just dieing to get some, maybe I could.
posisbly lol. Just let them know, that I can't make the flutes (the raised lines/ridges running all over the armor in the pics) on the gothic armor very clean. They kinda have little dimples on each side of them.
Oh yea, and BTW,, you don't look 'weird' in the pic. : )
Lol. thanks I was just thinking that my wierd pose of concentration, after trying to get a good picture was kinda funny hehe. Oh, and you're spelling is correct. But the most accurate form is just maille, or mail. But the "chain" part is mostly just an influence of completely historically inaccurate fantasy computer games grrrr. lol. "splint mail" "banded mail" "studded leather armor" nope not historical.
The helmet shown here was my first project. It's pretty simple and a good start if you wanna try to make something. It's kinda messy and I can now make one much better, but it's a first attempt, so i've kept it. Also, it's too narrow and i can't wear it comfortably

. The second pic is not mine. By no means is it mine. It's the Archduke Siegmund of Tyrol's armor. And it is SWEET!!!! Some poeple refer to it as "siggy." My current project is a simpler version, that I'm calling "siggy jr." And I just recently started the breastplate. Got lots more to do.
