• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi. Yes, there can be side effects that last up to 2 weeks but if they are really bad just call your doctor. In my case I have no side effects with my antidepressants. I hope the same happens with you. I'm not sure what Citalopram is. I usully know them better by their brand name, sorry. I would expect to have less depressive symptoms and feel better. I am praying. I just looked up your med and here is a link that can tell you more about it: http://mental-health.emedtv.com/citalopram/citalopram-side-effects.html

Ive been really sick this morning and almost passed out 3 times....assuming thats a side affect of my meds and not anything else? Very scary. That happened when i got up about 5hours ago, and i still feel horrendous now. Ive only taken 1 tablet so far. My family dont know about the meds or depression or anything so when they get in from work im guna have to try and hide how bad a feel?!

I've taken citalopram before, and I found it helped a little. It affects everybody differently, but I found the side effects for me were just dry mouth and sleepiness. If the side effects bother you or make you too sick, just talk with your doctor. I hope it works out for you!
