• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I am on Effexor. I have been for about 5 years now. Personally I have never felt any better because of it. Strangly often I am better when not taking it. That was untill my doc found out I hadnt taken it in 2 weeks. Oops:) I have never had too bad of side effects. I felt really sick and tired for the first few months but then it got better.

I have been taking Zoloft off and on for 10 years. I will switch to Wellbutrin once I wean my son, though.

The side effects of Zoloft are not pleasant: low sexual drive, dry mouth, constant hunger and craving of sweets.

Zoloft does work. It worked great initially but I think it's wearing off because I have been taking it for so long. I can tell when I DON'T take it, but it definitely doesn't work as good as it used to.

I would call the doctor if the side effects do not get any better!

just an update

Hi pplz,

I had a severe reaction to citalopram ( the medication) and the dr told me to go off it asap, my skin was all itchy and I was nauseous and so sleepy all the time and my muscles were so weak that the dr thought i was having a reaction from the day I started taking it.

Shaz - Wow, those are some evil side effects! lol. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I tried birth control pills for my acne last year, and when I got off it, I had some really screwy side effects... essentially I started thinking I was bipolar. lol.

I've been on and off Prozac since eighth grade. I haven't really noticed any side effects except for lower energy level (although that's likely a result of the depression in and of itself).
