I see nothing here that has anything to do with proof of anything.
I ask you to give me proof that prayer can move a mountain. You tell me that some old stories claim a bunch of other non-mountain-moving things, and this is proof. I tell you that this isn't proof. You claim that it is, you start grooving about how wonderful you think God is, and then claim it is more proof. And now this.
The Bible has failed every single test I've seen. Such as the bit where it promise that if you have even a small amount of faith you can make a mountain move simply by praying to it. And I think there's a bit in there about how venomous snakes can't hurt you and you can drink poison and survive.
On the contrary, he chose to put the forbidden fruit in Eden, he chose to create a Serpent (specifically designed to be cunning and tempting), he chose to make it so that, if Eve ate of that fruit, then all of humanity would be doomed to Hell.
Think about that. God - not man or woman - set the universe up. God - not any human - decided to make it so that all humans would be destined to a life of suffering and an afterlife of eternal suffering, if Eve ate a piece of fruit. He not only decided this, but he decided to create forbidden fruit in the first place, and to create a creature specifically designed to tempt the nascent individuals.
Sounds to me like a set up.
Seriously, why is anyone still bothering?Understand, the serpent chose to create himself.
Why can't we ever talk about real science in here?
Seriously, why is anyone still bothering?
St. John would seem to disagree:Understand, the serpent chose to create himself.
So an atheist who does good things (feed the hungry, heal the sick, etc) is, in fact, more 'Christian' than a televangelist who preaches hate?God has a purpose for all. Those that chose to rebel against God have fallen, making their position in Heaven no less important. God has a purpose for those positions and those that rejected them have given them up, eternally. They desire them back, yet are in turn rejected. Mankind is given a choice. Choose good or choose wicked. Wickedness leads to the throw away. Goodness leads to God. One must understand, God is all goodness itself. Life. Existence. A human is known by his fruit. A wicked tree cannot produce good fruit, neither a bad tree produce good fruit.
So, from a Christian point of view, it really doesn't matter if I convert or not? That is, Heaven is a purely optional thing? That is up to you. IF God has something you want, then go for it. If you feel He has nothing to offer then keep on doing what your doing. That is your choice.
If someone murders someone else, then becomes a genuinely Christian and genuinely repents, etc, do they get off because they converted? As far as I know all Christians believe in eternal life. That means a resurrection. I do not think many are annihilationists. God is still a God of justice. No one gets away with anything. They still suffer for their sin. But at the end of the 1,000 year reign of Christ all those who are not saved or redeemed are thrown into the lake of fire and that is the second death. No one comes out of there alive. The Bible says almost nothing directly about what happens to people in the lake of fire. So I can see why that would be a problem for people.
God can overcome poison also. God can do all things, for he alone, is God. We are also promised that a time will come where they will no longer endure sound doctrine and the only sign given will be of the story of Jonah(Jonas). The resurrection and forgiveness of wicked deeds payed in full is merciful, glorious and good. Some attempt to say an eye for an eye. Judgement belongs unto God alone. The Lord will repay. Love for one another conquers every wickedness. That is wisdom. Say yes unto your attacker, your thief, your users and abusers, for God is aware of all and is complete control. Happy is the man that gives cheerfully. Understand, that this knowledge is from God alone and thank Him, for He loves you.
Are you willing to put your beliefs into practice and drink some poison to show us?
Uh huh. I thought not.
I never got away with anything I did before I became a Christian. I still suffered and paid the price for it. I just leaned how to do good so I no longer had to suffer for breaking the law.If someone murders someone else, then becomes a genuinely Christian and genuinely repents, etc, do they get off because they converted?
If you do good then you reap the benefit of doing good. Lots of atheists live the christian life because they believe in the value of living a good healthy clean lifestyle. If someone gives to charity, heals the sick and preaches love and equality, but is a lifelong Hindu (born and raised), do they suffer for being a Hindu?
I can understand your doubt. Let's break it down. John 8:44, the father of it. The father of it refers to creator of it. The devil created evil. The pearls are in fact valuable, so don't waste them.
If you do good then you reap the benefit of doing good.
So, why be a Christian at all? There seems to be no reason to actually be a Christian, or to try to convert others to Christianity. There's no penalty after death, and there's no penalty in life.I never got away with anything I did before I became a Christian. I still suffered and paid the price for it. I just leaned how to do good so I no longer had to suffer for breaking the law.

There are rewards. The Bible calls them crowns. Actually that part is a good deal. Jesus pays our debt yet we still receive our rewards for the good we did.And what exactly is this benefit? Is it eternal life in Heaven?
And if so, a metaphor for what?So what, we get a bunch of pretty metal hats?
"Look, Tiberius, you've been a nice guy on Earth, but your an atheist, so I can't let you into heaven. But here, have some pretty metal hats."
Or is crowns a metaphor?
That is what Paul said in the Bible. If all we have is this life then why not eat, drink and be merry. But for me there is plenty of reason to be a Christian here in this life. You already put my statement in your sig. If I was not a Christian then this life would not be worth living. I could not make it with out God's help and without His comfort and support. I don't understand how non christians make it on their own apart from God.So, why be a Christian at all?
That is not what I said. I does not make any sense because you do not understand the resurrection. Nor do you want to understand the resurrection. You do not want eternal life so why are we even having a conversation about something your not interested in?
Land is mountain. God created the earth, Genesis speaks of this.
