  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do your kids help with meal planning? Like telling you what they want?

Since it is just Taylor and I, most of the time I let her decide what she is in the mood for and I just cook that. There are times though that I will cook things and I just say this is what we are having. I don't really care about food since I have had gastric bypass, I don't care if I eat or not most days. That is why I give her the choice of what she wants.

Zac is too young for meal planning right now, but I think even when he is older, I will still make the meal plan myself and ask for suggestions on some meals, like I already do with dh. My meal plan is fairly stict health and money wise so if I asked for everyone's input it would get really complicated.

I plan 2 weeks worth of meals and take requests from everyone in the house. What they want isn't always possible though. If it was totally up to my 6 year old she'd have steak and no0dles every night.
That is cute. Taylor would eat steak or fish just about every night too. She doesn't eat a lot of chicken unless it is hidden in something.

I don't really ask for input from the kids. 6 yo will eat just about anything (except for sweet potato, bacon and pumpkin, but will have sp and p, mashed with potato lol) 2 yo is so fussy, she just has to put up with what I cook, although I normally put something she likes (carrot sticks and celery) on her plate as well, so she at least has something for her dinner.

I try and get input from dh what he would like with the meal plans and sometimes he says something, sometimes not.

So I generally just try and cook us all something that hopefully we all enjoy.

Ugh!!!! I'm so over it.

Not really. I do 4 weekly meal plans that we cycle through. I know what meals the children like so I make sure I don't put on there stuff that they would hate.

The only time they actually get asked "what do you want tonight" is either for their birthday (4yo DD asked for eggs on toast this year ^_^ ) or if we go 'off menu' for some reason, like when away for holidays.

But I still have final say.
