• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anybody seen the documentry "SuperSize Me?"

WOW, that is some crazy stuff. That is a shame that it has to be that way. Everything for the money these days. That really irritates me that they actaully put addictive chemicals in their food. No wonder why I like it so much.

Have any of you seen it? Are any of you in the same boat as I am? (addicted to the food) I need some advice regarding my addiction to it. I am not fat, and I do eat healthy (fruits, etc.) and I do exercise. I am in pretty good shape all around. But I cannot escape the McDonalds trap! Everytime I eat there, I say after I'm done "this is the last time..." Well, everytime I go there I say that. And I do not know what is the best direction to approach it; cold turkey or take small steps?

Could you please pray the following: That the Lord would help people get off of the fast food chain habit, eat healthy, excersize, and honor their God-given bodies. That includes me and you. Could the Lord just give us His taste buds? Could He actually give us the desire to eat healthy?

Also, I would also like to add: can it be proven that the movie is true? If it is just bias, then shame on me for being gullible. I am skeptical, but sometimes the devil gets the best of me. As does he sometimes get the best of every living soul on this planet.

Any feedback would be awesome.

See you later,
Bluesky :)

I'm sorry but nobody is making you eat fast food. I work in a fast food restuarant too but we don't put addictive stuff in our foods. Now the cashiers will ask if you would like to have that in a larger size, would you like hash rounds with that or they will ask if you would like to try our porkchop biscuits. They usually ask if you would like to try a food that is higher price but you have to ask for what is on special. I work at a restuarant and eat their food but I still basicly weigh what I did when I started 2 years ago. I don't work at McDonalds though but we still drop some of our food in deep fryers and are cooked in grease. I fry eggs in margarine. It is good food but it is still going to have alot of fat content because of the grease. We charbroil our burgers though but they are still big burgers. Why pick on McDonalds? You could always try the Subways salads and some other restuarants healthy menus.

I wouldn't just be harsh on Macdonalds, they picked that one in the filmbecause it is the worlds biggest fast food chain or something, Most fast food chains will be the same although i am not an expert and i don't eat fast food any more

Blue,
You asked for help not critisim. Try you best to stay away from the arches! If it is on your way to work, choose a different route so you dn't have to pass it. Identify the food you tent to be the most addicted to and make it yoourself. Like, mine is the fries! I can choose to go a different way home from work so I don't pass those golden tempters and fry some potato wedges in light olive oil. I get my fry fix and 1- it's healthier, and 2- I made them so I know what's in them (or on them as the case may be).
I hope that was a help to you!

I worked at McDonald's and I found that Supersize Me was an exaggeration. First of all the guy in movie reacted that way to the food because he was eating a vegan diet before a 30 day McDonald's diet.

The best way to get rid of it is to avoid it. I NEVER order the food anymore because it's getting way to expensive. I do make my own big macs from time to time. While they don't have the exact taste it definately satisfies my craving.

I pick up some thin patties, Thousand Island dressing and onion, cheese and lettuce. You've made yourself a big mac.

Also don't kid yourself and go and get a salad. The one's with the chicken on them are just as fattening if you had a Big Mac. That is fact. Believe me. I barely eat McDonalds anymore. Although it's great once in a while. :)
