CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It would help if you had actually posted a picture of the Doomsday clock, instead of a photoshopped image of a standard digital clock.
In any case, global nuclear catastrophe is a very real threat - contrary to the Rapture, which shows no indication of being real, let alone nigh.

What on earth? I know of no scientists who have said global warming will wipe out all life on Earth. Changes to ecosystems yes, but complete obliteration of all life? That's an absurd over-exaggeration.
Oh boy, these guys are gonna be in for a shock. Well actually, they wont, they'll probably waste no time in coming up with some way of reconciling reality with the failure and come out saying "whoops! who slipped that number in the calculation! the date should be August 14th 2018! we're 100% confident now!"
The book "The Day and the Hour" by Francis Gumerlock explains in detail why these sorts of predictions should be avoided as they have a 2,000 year history of failure.

By studing what and why he is saying and also praying over it I do understand it more.There are certain red flags that make me have a hard time believeing it.He is saying that the great tribulation is now where in Revalations it clearly states that this will not happen till after Jesus returns.He says the world will end 5 months after Jesus returns where in Revalations it clearly states that a select people will reign with Jesus for 1000 years after tribulation then the day of judgement comes.Where he is saying the day of judgement is the day Jesus returns.
Harold Camping is pulling his timeline from 7 days before the great Noah flood.He is saying that it happend in 4990.There are scripture in the Bible in Peter 3:8 that state 1 day with God is 1 thousand years therefore Harold is taking the 7 days that God gave Noah to warn people and times that by 1000.It comes to May 21st 2011.The reason it points to all this is because Peter mentions Noahs flood and the days of now and that one day with God is like a thousand yrs all in one scripture.Another scripture in the book of Daniel states that he is told by God to close up the book (Bible) and no man shall know its meaning till the ends days are near.Harold is saying that in the end days God will show signs to the true believers through scripture which he believes is May 21st 2011. The problem with all this that I have is that noone can decide on the exact date in which the Noah flood happend.There is more to this im just trying to sum it up best i can.Thank you.
