  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I actually love that song :)

And yes, I have random thoughts all the time LOL snippets of songs that just appear outa seemingly nowhere

No job out there yet, but yes, I'm moving out there with someone. He's moving out there in 2 weeks, but my daughter and I are following in June after she finishes the school year. I am signed up with contracting agencies that have offices in Reno so I'm sure I'll land something quickly once I'm there and available for interviews.

My oldest daughter came home, but is living with her dad so there's no issue there.

I'm keeping the house, my brother is going to stay in it and pay the utilities, all I have to pay is the mortgage at this point. So that's a bit of a relief.

So I'm doing a real downsizing of the contents of the house and trying to determine what I'm going to keep, take with me, donate, or sell in a garage sale.

It's amazing what accumulates in a house after 6 years.

Ya, we love to buy stuff for sure. So far I've been mostly buying infrastructure things for the house. I'm just starting to think about things that will make it nice to live there.

Sounds like you will have a great adventure in this move, Gwen. I've always loved getting to knew a new area when I move.

Thanks Gwenyfur for all the answers! It is interesting how we accumulate stuff. And sometimes we think we should just throw it all out (or give it away) and then when push comes to shove I find myself thinking "well, maybe...." and no matter how many times I get rid of "stuff" there is always SO much more. I am gearing up for our community garage sale at the end of March. I never participated before but I have really been needing to have one and this is a perfect opportunity where I don't have to put up signage etc. The problem is getting all the stuff I want to get rid of and organizing it because there is SO much stuff! I want to make sure I get it ALL out there at once.

Here is the random song that popped into my head today (for no apparent reason lol)

What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) - Kelly Clarkson Lyrics On Screen - YouTube

So my son is going to college in the fall. Its not that far from home and he doesn't want to live with me but he also doesn't want to live in the dorm. Problem is they REQUIRE freshman to live in the dorm and if they don't want to they have to "apply" to live at home. So he has to fill out this form and write in his own words WHY it would be more acedemically beneficial for him to live at home instead of living on campus. He just wants to say he is living at home because that is one of the few reasons they will "consider" letting him not live in the dorm.

I have NO idea what I would even put or what he should put. Any suggestions? I can't believe you have to have a good reason to live at home. Seriously.

Well since his major is going to be digital culture and he wants to be a music producer, he is going to say something to the effect of, that because of his major and all his equipment being at home, it would not be feasible or wise to bring that equipment to a dorm room situation because of the value of the equipment and the space needed. Also that ASU is known for being a partying school and he doesn't feel that he would be able to study in that type of environment. Nor would he want to put himself in that environment and be subjected to possibly rooming with people that would enjoy the party atmosphere and be persuaded into participating in something he does not want to do as peer pressure is great in that kind of environment. He already has friends that go to ASU so it's not necessary that he be in a dorm to socialize or meet friends. He also will be working while going to school and his job is closer to home than school, not to mention the added expense of staying on campus which his mother, as a single widow is not able to afford.

That's some pretty sound logic there...

Thanks! So my son went to hang out with his friend at ASU and they were supposed to be getting a place together, but now that same friend is dropping out of college to join a band! He's a genius guitar player but he has a free ride at college. I hope he doesn't regret it if his band thing doesn't work out. Supposedly he already has a spot with a signed band. Anyway good lesson for my son and it just disproves the college saying that people stay in college more if they live in the dorm. My son said it was probably living in the dorm that was his dimise. So maybe God will grant MY wish for him to live at home too

Hi Colleen :)

Well it's been a quiet weekend...I drove over to help my friend pack for his move next week...
he's about 80% done packing.
Amazing!

I drive home tomorrow... wake up, shower, load up, and head for the hills...3-1/2 hours later I should make it home.

I can't tell you how much I can't wait to finally move to Reno this June. I've got to truly buckle down and get busy on getting garage sales going.
NEED to get crap GONE! so I'm not scrambling at the last minute.
I'm hoping to get it down to where I really don't need that much space to move. I hope.

Anyhow...
Still working on "adding" to the book, but it's in progress and not abandonned...

*hugs*

busy weekend ... your selling, I bought a new TV and entertainment center, this weekend. Now I got to figure out what cable system to attach it to!

Woot woot!!!! I have direct TV and I love it. They have low prices for just basic stuff and if you get a friend to sign up you get 10 extra dollars off your bill for 10 months and so do they. I used to have Cox cable and I am SO glad I have direct TV now. Sooooooooooo.....details about the TV please?
