Just found out last night that the three months that they will pay my oldest son will count as income as far as college is concerned. I don't think it will matter as far as taxes are concerned because I'm claiming him next year anyway. But for college they count what the kid makes and they cannot make over 6 grand in a year otherwise they think they can afford to pay for college themselves! This is in regard to scholarships that I am speaking.

Some scholarships are based on 'scholarship' and not financial need. However, I need to think about this and research this it before mine get too much closer. I can't believe that is entirely true because $6 grand translates into $500 per month which is below the poverty line. And removing his money from the family income lowers your ability to pay.

Yeah well I don't want to take any classes but my soon to be sophmore might. The people I went to talk to about this told me that if you can say you have 2 kids in college it might be worth it to pay for those 2 classes. And my younger one wants to graduate HS early so if he can get a jump on college why not?. And BTW he did get a merit scholarship already to the university he will be attending. It doesn't quite cover ALL of the cost but it does cover most of it. He needs to get his butt in gear and apply for scholarships darn it!

Fun day at work. We have like 10 division here at work. So I'm taking a 3 day class that introduces the lab to new employees. Lots of fun going on the tours! Just got back from the machine shop. Before that it was the group that built the prototype of the next generation communication for a satellite and helped get it working in space.

Well I've heard back from one publisher - no go
sent out the manuscript to 3 others and just finished reworking the formatting for the other 2 publishers' requirements.

If none of them pick it up for publishing I'm looking at either self publishing or crowdsourcing for the funding to pay a publisher to publish then doing the footwork of selling on my own.

Still haven't completed the research on which would be the better route...still learning/reading/researching on other options. I do know I'm not letting this goal go without a good "to the mattresses" fight

It's been a long while with this goal in mind...I can't tell ya how long I've thought of writing books and toyed around with writing books...
To finally have made it a reality...publishing isn't gonna stand in my way

ya, today there are a lot of options and I think the cost isn't as outragious as it used to be either. Not that its cheap either.

Which reminds me, back when I taught sunday school, I printed a book. A commentary on Revelations that I taught to the class. It was over 300 pages. Was more just pages as it was never bound.

If you self publish could you do it as an E-book maybe? Then people could pay to download it to their kindle or nook or whatever. Just a thought.

actually the kindle edition is included if you use amazon's self publishing option

createspace also has the best royalty rates and the IBSN number is included as well.

The cover art is the hard part for me to figure out...but out of the playing I've done I've narrowed it down to 2...
