he is an absolutely FABULOUS synodical president - he is a PASTOR, not a politician. he is most definitely getting the synod on the right track and definitely healing problems.....

i can't say enough good things about him. thank God for president harrison, seriously....

President Harrison is the right choice for us at this time. Things are definitely moving in the right direction. Harrison is a Pastor and a theologian first and foremost. One of the "programs" that had been put in place by our former President has pretty much disappeared and it is a good thing. It is going to take times to get things where they should be and President Harrison is indeed working in that way.

What was the program that was canceled quiltangel?

Gosh, may I guess it had something to do with a blaze that got out of control?;) I also do hope and pray that Pres. Harrison can bring back congregations like the one here in Redding. However, they've jumped the pales and run so far down the road, I seriously doubt it. LCMS has quite a few congregations like this and pastors to match.

Then again... all things are possible with those who believe...:sigh: So, Harrison gives me some hope.:)

However, there are two congregations out here on the West Coast that were thoroughly pummeled (and frankly robbed). It would do the LCMS a lot of good to deal with this situation in a way that will heal, rather than ignore the issue. I'm also watching to see a good number of District Presidents asked (by Harrison's office) to resign. He likely can't force it. All the same, the gesture would go a very long way.

Sorry that I have not been on to reply, but Stude's guess is right. We don't hear about Ablaze. The basic concept behind it was good, but the implementation was very poor and was mainly about the numbers. Also, during that time, there was a rise in some churches emphasis on using contemporary worship and not enough focus on the Word.

Now these are my opinions about it and others may or may not share them.

I have met President Harrison and have heard him speak on the Witness, Mercy, Living Together emphasis he has and I like to focus of this theme. Learn more about it here: http://www.lcms.org/page.aspx?pid=710

Witness, Mercy, Life Together is an excellent focus for LCMS. As a military member who has been WELS but is now LCMS I can say I am pleased with this emphasis and the accompanying study. Both synods have experienced loss in the American religious scene and a Biblical basis for growth and reformation is much needed. If these fine churches could unite they could be powerful.
