When I read Matthew 6:16, I keep thinking of Jews "disfigured their faces" in the photos in holocaust museums and getting lots of money from Germany as a result. I know it's not exactly the fasting he was talking about, but it's still Jews and a similar mindset. It's interesting how some scriptures can transcend millenia.
