  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here is my translation of Matthew 4. Please critique.
4Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit in order to be tempted by the Slanderer, 2 and after fasting forty days and forty nights, at the end He was hungry. 3 And after approaching Him, the Tempter said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." 4 But answering, He said, "It stands written, 'A person will not live by bread alone, rather by everything said that comes out through the mouth of God.'" 5 Then the Slanderer takes Him along into the holy city and sets Him upon the pinnacle of the temple 6 and says to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it stands written that He will give instructions to His angels concerning You and upon their hands they will carry You, lest You strike Your foot against a stone." 7 Jesus said to him, "Again it stands written, 'You will not test the Lord your God.'" 8 Again the Slanderer takes Him to a very high mountain, and shows all the kingdoms of the world to Him and their glory 9 and he says to Him, "All these things I will give to You, if You will fall down and worship me." 10 Then Jesus says to him, "Get behind me, Adversary! For it stands written, 'You will worship the Lord your God, and you will serve Him alone.'" 11 Then the Slanderer leaves Him, and look, angels came and were serving Him.
12 Now after hearing that John had been handed over, Jesus departed into Galilee, 13 and after leaving Nazareth, after coming He dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the district of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 in order that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying: 15 "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, as far as the way of the sea, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles: 16 The people sitting in darkness saw a great light, and for those sitting in the region and shadow of death, Light rose for them." 17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent! For the reign of the heavens stands near!"
18 Now walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, throwing a casting-net into the sea; because they were fishermen; 19 and He says to them, "Come after Me, and I will make y o u fishers of people." 20 And immediately after leaving the nets they followed Him. 21 And after going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, preparing their nets, and He called them. 22 And immediately after leaving the boat and their father, they followed Him.
23 And Jesus was going around all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the reign, and healing every disease and every ailment in the people. 24 And the report about Him went out into all Syria, and they brought to Him all the sick who were being tormented with various diseases and sever pains, and who were being demon-possessed, and who were being moonstruck, and paralytics, and He healed them; 25 and many crowds from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and across the Jordan followed Him.
