  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Question about Matt 24:29, as I just been looking at it again, and it just got me thinking, has others ever have the opinion that this could be a reference to what is called a "Pole Shift"?
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:” Matthew 24:29 (KJV 1900)

This could be literal. But the OT uses it figuratively about judgements on certain OT nations. I think it is literal here and describes the end of the world.

Everything Jesus says in Matthew 24 is quite literal, except when it's clear it's not; like the declared parable of the fig tree in Matthew 24:32. This separates symbolic from literal and puts the whole chapter, aside from the parable, in a literal perspective.
