  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It means, many people have been called to the kingdom but few are chosen to lead. Like pastors and stuff. They may want to be a pastor but they may not have that calling on their life.
You might also hear, "never speak against God's chosen", which means, we must pray for and uphold our leaders at all times, even when they do make mistakes.

While I appreciate your prompt response to my question, I'm having a hard accepting that answer. That verse comes at the end of the Parable of the Wedding Feast...which, from what I can tell, has nothing to do with our pastors, preachers, etc. It is comparing the Kingdom of Heaven to a wedding feast.

So I guess a more proper way to phrase my question would be, "Does that verse have to do with predestination?"

Thanks though!

Sorry Honey, I see what you mean. I have used that scriputre many times in a different context, when preaching and enquiring of God he gives me the revelation to go with it.
We are all called to the kingdom, every person who is born. But few are chosen to enter it.
Hope this helps more, hope you are enjoying Gods word. He is Just SO Wonderful.
God Bless

Every one who hears the Word is called, but as in the explained parable of "The Sower", many hear the Word, but only a minority have the heart to keep it unto bearing of good fruit and being thereby chosen.

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Those by the way side are they that hear; then comes the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
<-----> Luke 8:11-15

And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. <-----> Luke 3:9

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Every branch in me that bears not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
<-----> John 15:1-8

He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbers it the ground?
And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
<-----> Luke 13:6-9

Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
<-----> Matthew 21:18-20

The last passage above symbolizes Christ's Second Coming and the swift judgment which will issue forth from His Mouth, against all who have born no (good) fruit.

No good fruit = being rejected/cursed.

But The Lord gives us multiple opportunities. (the prunings, and fertilizing)

May The Lord Be Magnified !
