  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

This is Matthew 12:31, I've been reading from verse 22 to 37, and am trying to understand this verse.

Can anyone give me practical application, or some way to explain this verse?:help:

Part of my confusion is that I thought the Holy Spirit and the Son were co-equal, so why would there be such a vast difference in punishment here? I know I'm missing the big point, I'm just not sure what the big point is.

Yes, Christ and the Holy Spirit are One and are equal. The context of the passage has the Pharisees condemning Christ's acts as demonic. The unpardonable sin (Matt 12:31) is what this is discussing. If one hardens their heart so much that they believe God's work is from the Devil, then they are Lost.
