  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He's coming! Finally with his new CD out!

lifeteen.com/inspiration.asp
(after seeing the flyer, just browse through that site, its good.)
(it seems i can't post links until i have 15 posts =\)

I'm going to the california one at magic mountain....

I AM SO PSYCHED!
Now... anyone else gonna go? :)

PS: Some info on Matt Maher : He's only one of the best Catholic Rock artists I've ever heard. He has a lot of songs that've effected me, especially the last track of his first album which was about eucharist, just really great.

Hey all, I am friends with Matt Maher. He along with Tom Booth and Tim Smith, is a music minister at my former parish. Not only is he a great musician, he is also one funny dude. This new CD of his is awesome, you'll love it when you hear it.

Wow! Its so awesome that you got the chance to meet all 3 of them proud2b-and thank you for the link too! I actually got the chance to meet Matt and his band when we had an XLT night at another local parish (I think it was at St. Martin's...)-for those of you who don't know, XLT has an inspirational speaker from lifeteen (I don't remember who's ours was :( , but I know it was Mark Hart) and is followed with about 1/2 hour of adoration while Matt and his band sang...very moving, very powerful night all in all....where was I getting too?
Anyways, I got to talk to Matt afterward and he seems to be a great, funny and down-to-earth person....

Tionfyre-thank you for the compliment...if your talking about JSM, then yes I am that same person! We've started to go away from the arguing and now I'm serving the board as a moderator...for the most part, people aren't really into debating anymore (although I think its starting to build up again).
I'm a part of the St. Joseph Parish (usually go to the LifeTeen Mass and am lucky/blessed enough to serve as a lector everynow and then at the mass too). What parish are you from?? Hope to see you there!

God Bless!

Yea, JSM where you mod at...
St. Joseph... thats where the bishop of Orange is isn't it?
Well I used to go to St. Columban (where I attended school) and St Thomas Korean Catholic Center at the same time. I've moved to Irvine and now I switch between St Thomas KCC and St Thomas Moore...

I'd have to say that I'm really blessed to have such a great youth group at St Thomas KCC. Its not life teen but we're really tight knit and Steubenville Arizona/San Diego has a lot to do with it.

btw i think I read in JSM you went to Camp Kuper?! That episcopal run camp right? Horrible food but good experience :)

We had a Life in The Spirit Retreat over there not to long ago (I think actually its been a month)

Ahhh! Sweet memories of Steubenville at Tucson Arizona. Those were some fun conferences.

Matt Maher was the one that introduced me to Scott Hahn. I was his roommate at a Life Teen retreat, and he just got done reading the Lamb's Supper, and he was so excited to share it. So one night during retreat, Matt, I, and two other roommates broke out our Bibles and went through Revelation together along with Lamb's Supper. I think that we got about an hour of sleep that night. Those were some fun days.

I also went to Rome for World Youth Day 2000 along with my youth group and Matt Maher and Paul George(I don't know if you two know him or not, but he is an awesome guy that is running Life Teen Southeast hub, and was previously our youth minister). Well Matt and Paul did a wonderful job chaperoning us during that pilgrimage and continuously focused us on prayer and the pilgrimage. They truly engaged us in a spiritual trip.

I remember one night in Rome we were going back to our airport hangar which is where we slept. And there were prostitutes around there. Well one night, Matt and Paul came up with an idea of buying some roses for these prostitutes, and as a group we went to three of them and we gave them roses, and one of the youth spoke Italian, he told them we would be praying for them, and that they need to know that Jesus Christ loved them. Then we all proceeded to give them a hug. Two of them started to cry. It was truly a beautiful experience.

That was a really nice thing you guys did... the world is so sad...

Yea our youth group ministers mostly went to WYD 2000 @ Rome and Steubenville Arizona, probably around the same time you did.

They're the ones thats started our teen youth urged by a new priest who had come into our parish. He also made them learn instruments and they became a band now known as Cairo.
Great stuff that priest did, he had an interesting life also, former protestant who suddenly felt the calling to be a priest. Estranged with his parents just to become one.

Yeah I know Matt and Tom too. I see them every sunday at mass. I go to Saint Tim's in Mesa AZ. They are so awsome!!! Except of coarse if they catch you talking to your friend in the middle of mass. But Matt went on a retreat with Life Teen a couple of weeks ago and he shared a lot of touching stuff. I love my Parish! You got Matt Maher, Tom Booth, and Matt Smith from Real World that are there to inspire you. I don't think I would rather go anywhere else. I just started to go to church a couple of months ago and I feel so good when I show up on sundays!

I am sooo jealous of u!! Matt Maher is my favorite person in the world...along with Matt Smith. Tom Booth is awesome too! You are SOOO blessed...don't take it for granted that you get to see them all the time! Since you go to St Tim's. I'm planning to, maybe next year, on occasion to drive out there a few hours and attend the LifeTeen masses cuz they seem so awesome. And maybe even meet those guys! That would be the greatest thing ever for me. I've never met either of them. That's probably a good thing becuz the minute i meet them i will probably pee in my pants, and i don't to do that... haha, just kidding. But yea i'm glad you've joined LifeTeen, it's the best!

LOL....I got back about 45 minutes ago from St. Columbans and I got to see Mark Hart (aka Bible Geek) talk and we had adoration too...it was an awesome time...
Afterwards, one of our band members let me buy a copy of Matt's new CD (she's selling them for our youth minister...$15 a CD), I'm listening to it right now...It's AWESOME!!!! Especially "All Glory to God" and "Your Grace is Enough". I think I'm going to try and make a trip to St. Tim's one day just to check out how a lifeteen mass is done there...I've heard it's amazing how many teens go up to the altar...at our parish we're lucky if we get 20 out of the 50 there...sometimes a lot more come up, other times not. It's not that it's a bad thing that they don't come up, I just think it would be cool to see more teens get involved and excited.

God Bless!

Yeah Mark Hart is awsome. i have seen him speak many times. he shows up to our church a lot. You are right about how amazing it is when the teens go up to the Alter. It is usually over flowing and some have to stand on the floor off of it. You both should definatly come down to St. Tim's sometime. It is great. I know i am blessed for the people I have in my life. embarrasing story, i had only gone to church like 3 times. i went up to a guy at church and I asked if i could have a hug and told him i thought he was really hott!!! All he could do was laugh and tell me i was a really reverant prayer. i left and my friend said she couldn't believe i had the guts to tell Matt Smith from Real World that i thought he was hott!!!!! I had never seen that show before so i had no idea. i avoided him for a month after that.

oh my gosh! that's so funny! yeah i guess that would be embarrassing at the moment but now that you look back at it it's probably funny to you too. that's so cool that you did that though! MAN...i agree though! Matt Smith is DEFINITELY a hottie. i think he's really hot, but it's pretty cool because when i see him speak, i don't ever think about that, i just think about what an inspiration he is to me, what a role model he is, and just how plan awesome he is. i'm totally dying to meet him! and guess what!??? i'm gonna see him speak tonight! about a 25 minute drive from my house there is this christian university called Biola University, and he is going to be there tonight! I saw on Matt's website that he will be there, so i'm soooo going! I called the university lots of times and no one really knew anything but finally i got through to the events coordinator and he called me back to say he IS speaking still. The event is from 10-11 pm...my gosh that is pretty late! and it's only ONE DOLLAR to get in! haha. and Matt is supposed to speak for only 20 minutes, but i don't care, i'm still going! and since it's not a Catholic thing, there probably won't be any Catholics there, but i am totally gonna wear a LifeTeen shirt and represent! hopefully Matt will see me, or i might try to go up to him...i dont know, i'm scared to pee in my pants!!! haha. seriously! but oh well...best of luck to me...hehe. and yeah, i will definitely make it over to St. Tim's sometime. that would be AWESOME! well, i wrote too much, that's all for now!
God Bless,

FullyMT, is there a way I can somehow purchase the CD from her/your youth minister? Online ordering isnt really an option for me right now. However, driving over to Garden Grove, or anywhere near there (as in 40 minute radius) is.

I really really want that cd

His CD is already out. You can order it on www.lifeteen.com or your youth minister might have a copy...
My youth minister might still have a few. I'm not sure though...I can ask him tomorrow and if you want to drive over to Placentia and visit our 5 PM Mass on Sunday night you might be able to get it. Don't get your hopes up though.

I fell in love with the first CD from the moment i started listening to it. i wanted to get the second one right away, but i am having money issues at the moment. My boyfriend thinks he is so wise. He bought the CD right away, but he hasn't let me hear it yet! That jerk! He loves to rub it in my face that i can't hear it. That is so cool that you went to go hear Matt Smith talk. He is so inspirational. Did you know that he got some people to go to church with him? People from the Real World? And he has Theo praying every night, and even that brat that wanted him off so bad, want to find God. I wish i had the power to influence someone like that. But i was just influenced myself, so there isn't much i can say.
