Mats?

Even though we brush our pup daily, he still had a mat behind each ear after his bath today.
Are there any tricks for mats that would avoid cutting the hair? It doesn't show where we cut them but I would still prefer not doing it at all.

I'm not sure but you might try a little vegetable or other cooking oil to see if that will make it unmat. For severe mats, it's best to just cut it out.

Try using a conditioning spray to comb the matt out. You should never wash a dog until all the matts are out otherwise they just get worse. You should also try putting a little baby powder behind its ears and on its belly (at least that's what my books say).
