• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I read the verse. What I wasn't sure of was how you interpreted it. For example I was lead to believe that the Song of Solomon and those verses in Psalms were allegorical and not literal. Only a person with more of "the world" in them than "the Word" would think they have some sort of sexual meaning. I was thinking that you might be coming from an anti-pleasure point of view and that's why you condemned masturbation.

If it's important in your own relationship with God to not touch then don't do it. But make sure you don't start treading into legalism where you make your own views on things laws for everyone.

We actually covered just that earlier. Thx

Obviously the picture is real, is the content of the picture real or fictional? Stop dodging around.

...neither, cause it's a picture. That doesn't make any sense at all. It's not alive, but it is a picture of the person so it's a real picture...

It makes perfect sense. Is the subject, the object of the picture, real or fake? Is it true, or not true? Does it represent the real person, or is it a fictional idea based on a real person? This question is not that hard.

It represents the real person, like a picture...like I said every time.

How can something that includes fake information in a picture actually be a real representation of what it's supposed to represent in real life?

You might be able to answer your own question....

Represent:

1. to serve to express, designate, stand for, or denote, as a word, symbol, or the like does; symbolize: In this painting the cat represents evil and the bird, good.
2. to express or designate by some term, character, symbol, or the like: to represent musical sounds by notes.
3. to stand or act in the place of, as a substitute, proxy, or agent does: He represents the company in Boston.
4. to speak and act for by delegated authority: to represent one's government in a foreign country.
5. to act for or in behalf of (a constituency, state, etc.) by deputed right in exercising a voice in legislation or government: He represents Chicago's third Congressional district.
6. to portray or depict; present the likeness of, as a picture does: The painting represents him as a man 22 years old.
7. to present or picture to the mind.
8. to present in words; set forth; describe; state.
9. to set forth or describe as having a particular character (usually fol. by as, to be, etc.): The article represented the dictator as a benevolent despot.
10. to set forth clearly or earnestly with a view to influencing opinion or action or making protest.
11. to present, produce, or perform, as on a stage.
12. to impersonate, as in acting.
13. to serve as an example or specimen of; exemplify: a genus represented by two species.
14. to be the equivalent of; correspond to: The llama of the New World represents the camel of the Old World.
–verb (used without object)
15. to protest; make representations against.
16. Slang. to use or display a secret handshake, sign, gesture, etc., for purposes of identification: The gang members always represent when they see one another.

Sacrificing your sinful nature is.

By the way, if anyone thinks “taking up the cross” means not thinking about sex, whether little or much, they are badly mistaken.

Jesus wasn’t crucified for thinking about sex, but for opposing the hypocrisy of the legalists.

To follow him, we should do the same.

Your incorrect; Jesus was crucified for the forgiveness of sins.

Is the representation fictional or real? Seriously, not that hard.

Right, that's why the Pharisees got ticked when Jesus exposed their hypocrisy. The whole ripping on the hypocrites thing had nothing to do with it, whatsoever. Come on, you've been around the block enough to know better.

Whatever, you can agree that it means not having multiple sexual partners for you. Correct?

C'mon guys. Jesus was crucified because it was God's plan. If the Jewish leaders and Romans hadn't done it He would have found someone else to carry out His plan.
