  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

we are in a fallen state so just because people do something does not make it natural, sin is not "natural" in a strict sense but a man made thing, so the effects of sin would not be natural either.

to say that our sexual desire is caused by the fall is just like saying that our desire to eat is caused by the fall. You have no proof what-so-ever that masturbation is a cause of the fall. That's just what you think and frankly I find it really irritating when people blame stuff on the fall just because they don't agree with it.

The simple fact of the matter is that the bible doesn't speak on masturbation, forget about lust [which is another issue entirely and I don't think masturbation and lust are directly connected] forget about what you THINK the bible says.... the fact of the matter is that the bible is silent. could this be God's way of telling us that some things are not spelled out in black and white all the time? Could masturbation's morel answer be found elsewhere other than than the bible? I think so.....

it is not just the lust, but the act in and of itself,
look up Onan, genesis 38

awwww the spilling of the seed.... classic and completely mininterpated. Here's the nature of the passage. This dude makes a vow to sleep with a woman in order to help her have children. he spills his sperm and as a result he is breaking his promise and God looks down on that in disgust. the passage is in no way shape or form directed to touching yourself at all. It's about keeping one's vows.

I think we may be in agreement.

You would agree that Masturbation whilst single is wrong ,

but if you happened to be married and the focus of your lust was on your wife that would be fine?

when your married I think masturbation is wrong, because you are supposed to be sharing that with your spouse. If you do believe that masturbation, in general, is wrong, than what makes you think that masturbation inside a marriage makes it right? If anything it makes it even MORE wrong.

Now I'm not saying I think masturbation is wrong, infact I think it's a neutral thing and is neither right nor wrong..... but I'm simply talking from the perspective of those who think it's wrong.

LOL exactly, what was the logic behind that one.

If I thought masterbaition was wrong, then If your single thats when Masterbaition should be fine, not when married.

But I think its not a sin overall regardless.
Sometimes women don't want to have sex, so a guy should be allowed to masterbait.
And if ur single, then even more so.

Masturbation is not a sin. It is a very natural thing, even infants do it! I did a paper on it for my human sexuality class. Solo masturbation in and of itself has absolutely NO negative side effects at all.None, nada, zip, zero, ziltch. Another health benefit for women is that [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] can sometimes help to relieve menstrual cramps.

This is something that I can't really make my mind up on... I know that as a Catholic Christian I am --supposed-- to believe that masturbation is wrong, but I have a hard time really convincing myself of that. It's a natural thing... it's not like porn or something that we are exposed to only because our culture and society has created and presented it to us... this is something that most people discover because... it's just there :D

Web thats not necessarily true, lots of people like to walk around and claim things are sins when they have no evidence of it.

I've been a Christian for only 5 years and I can say I've seen so many extra-biblical and extra-scriptorial sins that it amazes me.

As someone who has dedicated his life to serving the Lord in a life time of single celibacy, I personally try not to do it. I don't even know why I'm posting this here seeing as how it's really noones business. (I'll get to the reason why I am in a second though)

I can't speak for everyone else. All I know is that for me, it separates me from God. It also has a tendency to lead me down roads that I'd rather not take (as far as further sexual and lustful thoughts go) The Bible has a lot to say about the lusts of the flesh and being in The Spirit. I've known both, and sometimes they tend to try to merge together. I can remember times when I was I have been pouring my heart out to God in tears and there has been a struggle with 'the flesh' even then.

I'm not going to say it is a sin or it isn't. All I know is that for me, I'd rather abstain.

Please pray for me.

Thread necromancy... Old thread is old. Who knows if I've already posted in this thread or not. I can vote in the poll but still, I've had other accounts on here. I'm far too lazy to search through 12 pages to try to find out, so:

Do you see masturbation as a sin or not or maybe you don't know?

Not sinful to me anyway, Masturbation is a-ok in my book.

It is a problem however if a party chooses masturbation over his or her own spouse (a willing spouse but the person chooses self-stimulation instead). Even that isn't "sinful," really but I consider it to be a sign of an issue that needs to be addressed.
