• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I don't think it's anybody else's business to tell others what they can and can't do with their bodies. Masturbation is *not* licentious, and nobody should be made to feel guilty about it.

There is nothing in the ten commandments where God says "thou shalt not touch".

Well, then according to your reasoning:

"There is nothing in the ten commandments where God says "thou shalt not take cocaine"."

and according to you:

"I don't think it's anybody else's business to tell others what they can and can't do with their bodies....AND no body should be made to feel guilty about it".

ok...we'll just let the guy take heroine until he dies...

does that sound silly to you?!? Sure, we as Christians aren't supposed to judge, but it's in our ministry to discipline/correct a fellow Christian. Judging and disciplining are 2 different things. judging is attacking a/the character, disciplining is showing right from wrong.

like I said before to others, if you think you can live a free and fulfilling life in Christ while performing the deed...then fine. I find it hard to believe that that is the case, and with good argument too.

Masturbation, smoking, taking drugs.....all these things aren't mentioned specifically in the bible as sin, however we should be able to figure out that it is not beneficial for our bodies at all, but the opposite.

I honestly don't see what the big deal about it is.

The circles we run in and the way we make people feel guilty is ten times more evil than relieving a little tension every now and then.

Even James Dobson says that it's private, so leave the kid alone about it ("kid" since he's the focus on the family guy).

If we'd quit making it a big deal, then it wouldn't be a big deal.
