  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

‘Masculinity’, so far as I am aware, is not an Orthodox term. It is not a term that has any traditional place in Christianity. It is a term embraced by the secular world because this world has rejected normal concepts of humanity, in which of course there is male and there is female, there is child, there is adult. These are simply human beings. But because the world has lost sight of the basics of what it means to be human, it is forced to respond to the lack of clarity it has pushed on itself by fostering these concepts of ‘femininity’, ‘masculinity’, and so on.

I just finished reading that this evening. I'm glad to hear a hierarch address this. Thanks for sharing it here.

that priest refuted the article, basically said what His Grace said FYI.
That particular priest was probably told to get in line by his own bishop, if I had to guess. His bishop also (rightly) had him take down his 'Hot Holy Matrix' video that was far beneath something a priest should ever post. What's more surprising is that his bishop hasn't yet banned him from making videos.

I am sure that his bishop has his reasons, which he will answer for.

Considering that the priest is ROCOR and ROCOR has a history of not holding priests accountable for the right things yet making mountains out of molehills for the wrong things, this is not surprising.

But mark my words: they'll allow him to continue saying borderline misogynistic if not outright misogynistic things forever, but the day he says "gee maybe Orthodoxy in America should be American and not just Diet Russian" he'll be defrocked before you can say gospodi pomiloy.
