Helen Blavatsky, lived late 19th c., was a spiritist and occultist who is said to have founded (iirc, others say was one of the founders of) Theosophy.
She later had two more marriages, many lovers, and an illegitimate child. Biographers report that she swore fluently in at least three languages, exhibited a violent temper, and was addicted to hashish. She founded Theosophy on November 17, 1875, and said of her ability to influence thousands that people "in every part of the world have turned into asses at my whistle and have obediently wagged their long ears as I piped the tune".

She, along with the famous satanist and formulater of "magick" Aleister Crowley (whom she knew) is credited with the popularization of the occult, the reintroduction of paganism and the development of neo-paganism.
I would hardly consider her a credible source on any matter related to Christianity.
