  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Interview from 1970. Martyn Lloyd Jones was pastor of Westminister Chapel for 30 years.
Thanks for sharing that. I really like his answers.

But the interviewer at 11:04 says "IT is a highly regarded Christian virtue to be tolerant and charitable toward others who have different views from his own" - which is a true statement. We should be charitable and tolerant of others with different views from ourselves.

But Jones is right to say that if what you are talking about is the Word of God and it says something like "The sky is up" but then Joey down the street says "the sky is down" - I say let Joey have his view but don't think for a moment that God is wrong and Joey is right.

At the very end Jones makes the statement about the Old Testament and the Law - which points to everyone being a sinner and in need of the Gospel of salvation in Christ. A very good point.
