  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hi. I know I'm too young to be posting here technically but i'm doing market research and i need the opinions of different age groups...
I hope this isn't against the rules or anything...

um, I'm part of this program called Young Achievers Australia and basically the point is they get a group of grade 11s and 12s and they start their own business, make and sell a product and at the end liquify the company and return money to the shareholders and stuff.

anyway, my company INSPIYA isn't quite sure what product we're gonna sell. So I'm doing a little research into the matter (i managed to make myself marketing director of the company so i thought i'd better do some market...stuff....)

so anyway, we've got it narrowed down to two possible products
  • A characterised photo frame, decorated with anything from buttons to wrapping paper to paint to little beady things...anywhere our creativity takes us. This would go for around $5 - $10 (australian dollars, you do the conversions).
  • a showbag type thing with advertising material from local business in the region. in the interests of the environment the bag would be made out of calico so it could be reusable for shopping etc. this would be free (we'd be selling advertising space to the businesses)

so anyway, if you were walking through a market and saw a stall with us selling either of those two products, which would you be more inclined to go for? please vote.
if you don't like either idea, please suggest another, though it needs to be fairly simple, and can't involve food.

Thankyou for your time.

Nah just kidding mate.
Anywho, I personally don't like either, but I'm male.
The showbag type thing does sound like a pretty good idea though... it's a good scheme.
The frame thing I think would be better if you were able to customize them to the buyers preference.

Hi Jono! YAA's a great initiative, and you'll enjoy it for sure. Basically I agree with what Kepa's said. If the showbags have gift vouchers for free goods, and generally interesting stuff, then that'd be what catches my eye. I'm not a picture frame guy, but you'd need to tailor make the frames for the buyer, which could be fairly labour intensive. Friends of mine who did it sold mousepads with original designs, for example.

Good luck. I like the business name too.

Of the two, I'd probably go for the picture frame. I find that advertising intrudes into my life far too much already - internet popups, spam, junk mail, etc. It's gotten to the point that many ads make me less likely to ever purchase the product/service being advertised because they have annoyed me. I would not be interested in purposely getting a bag of ads. And if I accidentally acquired one I would probably become irritated and throw it away.

voting over! and the product is......neither.

at the meeting after about a 15min debate we decided we couldn't make either work so we came up with something else.

so we're making a childrens choose your own adventure/colouring in book with a CDROM on the front cover...haven't quite decided what to put in that yet.
