  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To say that the unbelief of the people didn't have a factor in whether Jesus could heal IMO is bogus. The flow of the text I would say absolutely leaves us with that conclusion....and other scriptures as well....how many many times did he say according to your faith? And in James 1 it states let him ask in faith and its talking about wisdom there but it ends up talking about anything...let him not think that he shall receive anything of the Lord....

What about Matthew's corresponding account? Matt 15:54-58 "And He did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief."

The ppl there did not believe who Jesus was, so is Jesus confirming this by the lack of healings? It says in Matthew's passage that Jesus did not do it because of their unbelief -- was it a choice on His part?

Yes, he didn't do miracles there because of their unbelief. There are plenty of places where Jesus doesn't do miracles, when the miracles would cause even greater problems.

Disbelief and rejection aren't likely to be helped by miracles. At one point Jesus told a story Abraham telling a man in torment about his brothers, "... they won't believe even if someone should rise from the dead."
