  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

High taxation resulted in many Jews being dispossed of their land in the first century. They were forced into employment by other farmer. Jesus' parable on the two sons (Luke 15:11:24) has an interesting take on one son feeding pigs.

The point isn't feeding pigs, but what jews would be doing with pigs. Since the son went off to a distant country, the passage may not be relevant.

Hi there!

The Sea of Galilee had an imaginary dividing line. The west side of the Galilee was Jewish, and the east side was Gentile. When you see a reference which says, "the other side", that would be the Gentile side of the Galilee.

Curing the demoniac is attributed to a location on the Galilee at Kursi, which Mendel Nun has a well-written article isolating the location by the evidence of the "slope" where the swine ran into the sea. "Pig farming" or raising swine requires a tremendous amount of water; therefore, the east of the Galilee was an ideal location.

BTW... the demoniac was considered to be the first missionary to the Gentiles resulting in the 4,000 people who were present for the second miracle of multiplication on the "other side" (Mark 8)
