Or it might just lead to a personal relationship with Christ?

Independent and error prone 'thinking' in matters of doctrine and dogma are not necessary to form a relationship with Christ. Unless of course the relationship you are seeking is estrangement

It is not the Orthodox Church that has embraced symbolic Resurrection, Nestorian Christological theology, gay marriage, women 'priests', hierarchical Trinitarian 'theology' ...

Yes, there are some that have embraced those beliefs and they will have to answer to God for it, not to your church. Error "prone" thinking is the nature of humans, including church leaders.

YOu make the assumption that one cannot be a fully practicing Catholic or Orthodox and NOT have a personal relationship with Christ. I think you grossly misunderstand our faiths

No, you guys make it sound like a Prot. can't have a personal relationship with Jesus outside the RCC/EO church.

Stop generalizing. I've said no such thing, and such a belief is not part of church teaching.

The problem is the RCC and EO have a strong desire to reconcile. (Maybe not individually, but corporately, yes)
What are the odds of this actually happening? You believe that you are the only ones interested in "reunification?" We're as prayerful, but we all have our standards and I don't see anybody, RCs or EOs included willing to compromise their standards for the good of reunification.

im going to go out on a limb and venture to guess that he personally believes what his Church teaches.

personal opinions dont mean jack squat when truth is concerned, thus Catholics conform themselves to the Catholic Church, and Orthodox conform themselves to the Orthodox Church. now whether or not you think those churches are true is besides the point -- the point is that I am not hte author of Christianity and therefore i dont get to decide what the Scriptures mean or what the faith is. either i conform to the truth or im just making up my own religion.

I don't see statue/icon veneration going on in the Bible, no icons at the center of the church, no prayers to any passed on, so i guess i'm not of the Accord.
Me neither. There is something in Exodus about statues..but then..hey, they really aren't 'statues'...and just because God said not to make them...ah, what does He know?? Another one of those things that can be explained away..kinda like how brother isn't brother etc...

Is it not free wil to except what the Church teaches? I don't see anyone pointing a gun to our heads. We are free to disagree and leave if we want..

Poor interpretation on your part. I see it happening right after God supposedly prohibititing it in Genisis. Tis ashame they started worshiping it though. Fortunately we do not.
