say what you like about marilyn manson but personally i like a few of his songs and the way some of the visuals look in a few of his videos. But i'm not really a big fan of him! (because quit frankly you either like marilyn manson or you hate him) but the songs that i do like by him are Beautiful People and Tainted love.

Personally, the theatrics and shock value are cool looking, but they're also what turns me off, because even if he's kidding about this stuff, and it's all an act, how could we tell? The lyrics speak differently.

I will concede that he does have a great sound, though. I simply love Industrial music, and that's a great example of the sound itself. And I must admit that the Tainted Love cover is actually a really good rendition of the Soft Cell version (since it's kinda obvious it's not a direct cover of the original 60s version). I'd listen to Tainted Love more often if it wasn't for the fact I still feel uncomfortable with it being Manson (not to mention the video for it was just disturbing, albeit in a very funny way).

Love Manson. He is extremely intelligent and everything he does for a reason. He knows what to do to get the reactions out of people and so he does that. He deserves a hell of a lot more credit than what everyone gives him. As for his lyrical content. Personally, I think they are great. You have to look deeper than just the words he is saying to get the meaning behind it. He's great at what he does and is more honest than most of the "artists" (I use the term loosely) out today...

I've never understood this. What is the validity of making music to get reactions out of people? I'm fine with him if he's expressing his feelings, and they happen to be shocking to some people. But if he's out to push buttons as much as possible, I tend to tune him out. Shock value for the sake of shock value does not good music make, if you ask me.

marilyn manson is awesome. they have so many awesome song. 1996, little horn, coma white, irresponsable hate anthem, get your gunn, sweet dreams(i know its a cover), the reflecting god. i could keep going on and on but hes awesome.
he actually has the guts to do what he wants no matter what other people think or say. no matter if people protest against him or even threaten him. hes not one to back down very easyly(unlike the dixie chicks who were quick to apologize over a joke)

but the main reason i like them is because they make such awesome music

i didnt know that but i meant their music during the late 70s early 80s whenever it was lol

the way marilyn manson has his voice distorted on some of his songs sounds like the way ozzy used to sing dont you think ?
Actually, the vocal distortion of the type Manson uses is typical of Industrial music as a whole. Considering Manson is an Industrial artist, the vocal distortion is pretty much a way to get the vocals and the backing music to flow together. Celldweller, Stabbing Westward, Dope, Skinny Puppy, Front 242...they use that same technique, albeit to varying degrees of intensity. Heck, even Skillet used it on their Invincible and Alien Youth albums (I dunno about Hey You, though; it's been awhile since I've listened to it, but for the couple of songs I can remember I think it was used also). It's basically adding a synth drone to your voice, to put it in the most basic terms (since I'm not experienced with synths, I don't know exactly what they do to make that technique work, but I know it more than likely has to do with a synthesizer, and it does add a droning quality to your voice).

His past 3 albums have been "Xian" influanced starting with his album Brutal Planet, then DragonTown, and a new one that I've not heard much about.
