IF we legalized marijuanna (and/or other drugs) we could get rid of half of our police officers in this country and up to half of our prisons. A lot of attorneys and cops would be out of jobs. Police and city's could no longer confiscate bank accounts, automobiles, homes, etc where they make billions of dollars at police auctions. They are not going to kill the golden cow.

actually - a large portion of the people in jail on drug charges, pled down from other charges to just the drug charges. So this "golden cow" is not as golden as so want you to think.
That is a matter of opinion - which I totally disagree with.
My father grew up when all drugs were legal. There were no pushers, no drive by shootings, no gang land fights over territory, no burgerlies, robberies, or murders from people stealing to get money for expensive illegal drugs because legal drugs are so cheap nobody has to steal anything to buy them.
In my opinion, lots of crimes are caused by drugs. People need lots of money to buy illegal drugs because drugs are much more expensive when it is illegal.
Furthermore, illegal drugs is what keeps the mafia in business. Now that gambling is legal nearly everywhere, and union membership is only 1/3 of what it used to be, the only current source of revenue for the mafia now is the illegal drug trade.
If drugs were legal, the mafia would cease to exist.
If drugs were legal, marijuanna and heroin would only cost a quarter - and anyone can panhandle for 5 minutes to get a fix, or pick up 2 empty pop bottles to get a fix - no need to car jack or rob someone in order to get 25 cents. Marijuanna grows anywhere like a weed, and heroin is like a flower. Making them legal would drive the price down to a quarter a shot.
Lastly, if drugs were legal and cheap, ther e would be no "drug pushers", because nobody could earn a living trying to get school kids to start on a habit that costs only 25 cents a day - there would be no profit in trying to spread drug use.
Probably 50% of all crime in the United States is drug related.
Repealing all drug laws would cause an immediate 50% drop in our crime overnight - causeing widespread and massive police layoffs, attorneys being unemployed, judges, prosecutors, prison guards, prison suppliers, and court employees all permanently out of jobs.
You severely underestimate how much of our crime is directly, or indirectly caused by having drugs illegal.
