Many Are Called?

Doesn't the verse that says "many are called but few are chosen", contradict irresistible grace?

Many hear the Gospel but only the chosen can understand it. Only the will of Man prevents him from turning to God, but the call goes out to everyone. Irresistible grace doesn't apply to the general call, just the effectual call.

when paul said, "I keep my body under subjection unless I myself become a castaway", doesn't that also contradict unconditional election, irresistible grace and/or perserverance of the saints?

Paul is demonstrating perseverance of the saints perfectly. Men who don't feel the need to keep themselves in check are themselves unsaved. A castaway in this sense would be a temporary believer. Paul claims his being chosen is due to no good of his own; on the contrary, he was the chief of sinners. That's unconditional election. Irresistible grace inevitably leads to perseverance of the saints.

In Matt 22:10 we see that both evil and good are gathered. Jesus tells us there is none good but God, so what is He referring to here? I believe what we have here is the general call of those who know they are sinners and those who cling to their own self righteousness. So the invitation goes out to all but the ones who respond do so only by the grace of God. As it says in Acts 13:48
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.
